Author has written 7 stories for Historical, and General.

Let us go then, you and I,
When the evening is spread out against the sky
Like a patient etherised upon a table

-- T. S. Eliot, "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock"

The fact that that is probably Brackynn's favourite simile ever might be enough to tell you a bit about her, but if not, then you may wish to read on. Or you may just wish to read her stories. That would be nice, too.

Brackynn is a newly eighteen-year-old Arian who hails from Australia. She is currently studying classical music and musical theatre at university. And celebrating that said studying requires absolutely no knowledge of chemistry at all. She always knew that chemistry was a pointless class to take during high school.

Brackynn is a history nut, a theatre nut, a music nut, a grammar nut and a literature nut. In other words, she is nutty. And makes lame puns. But if you want specifics, Brackynn is a fan of morbid musical theatre, elitist literature, British comedy and crime television shows. There you go.

Her favourite authors include Victor Hugo (mostly for creating the character of Jean Prouvaire) and Craig Silvey (mostly for being the creator of a sentence which Brackynn is not allowed to repeat here). Her favourite book is Les Misérables by Victor Hugo, and her favourite literary characters are Jean Prouvaire and Meursault from Albert Camus' The Outsider. Verbalising the former name provokes excessive fan-girling, and it must be advised that it should be used with great caution.

Brackynn's old literature teacher suffered through a number of opinionated essays as well as some creative work, and from that, has decided that Brackynn has a "wry, quirky sense of ironic humour." Derive from that what you will.

Brackynn would like to thank everybody who supported her during the writing of All Roses Have Thorns. Currently, she is revising it and making a fair number of changes, mainly in regards to plot structure and character motivations. This may be posted in the future ... or Brackynn may decide to be anal and revise it again. And again. Just because. (In fact, she really needs to stop getting ideas for new things to put into it. It's driving her crazy.)

She also loves roses on an unhealthy level, which she will demonstrate by ending her bio with a few lines from her favourite poem, "The Banks O' Doon" by Robert Burns.

Wi' lightsome heart I pu'd a rose
Frae aff its thorny tree,
And my fause luver staw the rose
But left the thorn wi' me.

A sneak preview into the mind of Brackynn (in other words, her ideas for upcoming stories)

Danny Boy: When her husband and sons go off to fight in WWI, she is left alone for the first time in her life, back home in Perth, Western Australia. And while she's waiting, she realises that outside of her home, the community that surrounds her holds far more intrigue than she had ever imagined -- and not to mention a certain Irish immigrant who likes to play a violin he refuses to keep in tune. But while she's occupied at home, on the other side of the world, her son is striking up a friendship with an American nurse, whose sweetheart is also fighting ... and has problems of his own.

Sicily: After an incident with treasure in Segesta, the Athenian Assembly votes to send a massive expedition to Sicily in hopes of returning with wealth and glory. But things cannot go smoothly when three men are appointed to lead the others, and all are hopelessly different -- Nicias is conservative and cautious, Alcibiades is impulsive and reckless, and Lamachus is straightforward and courageous, but ignored by the others. As attempts at diplomacy amount to little, Alcibiades is recalled to Athens, but when he escapes and turns traitor, it becomes devastating for the expedition. And throughout it all, a small group of Athenian rowers reach out and form a close friendship, little knowing of the turmoil they have left at home.

A Work of Art: short story A young Georgian girl sinks to the ultimate low to bring in extra income for her family -- modelling nude for an aspiring painter. But time moves on, the present becomes history, and disgrace may turn out to be something very different.

A bit of extra info on the longer works Brackynn currently has posted

The Stitching: A bit of light, frivolous fun for Brackynn -- and hopefully, for you, too. Emily's got breeding; Robert's got money. And on top of that, she's determined not be be swayed by his womanising ways and to devote herself to him regardless. It should have been a perfect match. But throw in her lingering fondness for make-believe, his resentful old sweetheart, a lovesick shy guy, a bored aunt who gets her kicks by seducing anything off-limits, a trio of girls with a knack for match-making, a group of servants scrabbling to save their jobs and a very amateur magician who might just save the day ... and things start getting a bit more complicated.

All Roses Have Thorns: Brackynn's baby (as said above, currently being revised). It follows the ordeals of Geneviève Rochefort -- a young woman entranced with a man who refuses to let her go. Throughout all manner of things from family quarrels to the rise of the Paris Commune, he takes more and more from her until she can do nothing but relinquish her heart, soul and mind to his memory, regardless of what it costs.
