At the moment I am writing the sequel to Fire and Water, and planning a new story influenced by 19th Century Gothic Literature.

Personal: I'm 23, vegan, living in England and have a degree in Creative Writing and Film Studies. I am hoping to do my masters in Creative Writing next year - if I can get in of course.

Interests: Writing, vampires, the gothic, anything to do with the sea/water, Doc. Ock., Ballet, ballroom, break dancing, ice skating, Tim Burton, Matchbox Twenty, The Lost Boys film (my favourite film ever, and will ever be), The Little Mermaid, German Expressionist films, French films, J- Horror, Martial Arts, Photography, Psychology, the Ocean. Wish the '80's were back. Have moments when I watch the Spider-man films way too much. It's really funny, but it means I can't watch them anymore or else I fall into that trap.

Books: I like Anne Rice (Interview with the Vampire is my favourite book.) I was greatly inspired by Catherine Fisher when I was younger. I adored, and still do admire, her books. Also Sign of the Lion by Sherryl Jordan was one of my favourite books. I like the old Fairy tales too, The Snow Queen and Rapunzal being my favourites. Though I do hate what Disney have done to them I still have a fondness for their version of The Little Mermaid that I don't think is going to go away. Kiss The Girl is a great song...(Note: The Little Mermaid has nothing to do with the inspiration for my book, I adore everything to do with the sea and water in general, and it is based on a dream I had when I was thirteen.) I mostly read fantasy and gothic.

I found The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana by Umberto Eco very interesting, and I learned a lot from it, in a simialr vein The Book Thief was very poignant. Similarly The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon gave a refreshing view on autism, and his latest book A Spot of Bother is an unputdownable and fascinating way to read how people deal with difficult and stressful situations, although it is rare for me to read books that are humourous this is an exception, much like Bridget Jones. The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon is written with amazing prose, and has a great plot. I still have yet to read his second edition to the quadrilogy. The Beach by Alex Garland is also a great read; I thoroughly enjoyed the prose and narrative voice, as well as how it all slowly comes together for a horrific climax. Men, Women and Chainsaws is a very interesting, if not disturbing, achedemic book by Carol J. Clover about feminism and how women are portryed in the horror film, I thoroughly recomend it. Normally I skim through these books, or flick to relevent chapters, but with this one I read chapter for chapter. Be warned, it contains adult content, and may make you look at women in film a bit differently...if you're interested in more The Dread of Difference contains essays from different authors on the same subject. Though there are many more, Laura Mulvey is also a good author to read if you're interested in feminism. The Historian is the best book I've read in too long a time, it is very engaging, even if the end was slightly disappointing. Stephanie Meyer writes flawlessly, and the characters come across with excellent realism; I can only hope to achieve that kind of style in my childrens' fiction... and, my gosh, Twilight was actually a good film. Too bad everyone has now hyped her up too much; I like keeping authors to myself, but I'm happy for her success. I refuse to go see The Time Traveler's Wife, I just don't understand how they can portray the magic of the prose on the big screen. Answer: they can't. Brick Lane I enjoyed a lot more than I thought I would, and I recommend it. It has great balance between tragedy and comedy, and the narrative and characters are very strong. The Dark Angel Trilogy is another series of books I recommend if you are into gothic/vampire-y books. It is easy to read, goes along at a perfect pace, and is interesting and intruiging throughout. And yes, I did write my book before reading this (vials and souls must be standard fare I guess). Let The Right One In was a very touching book. I think I should have seen the film first though as it didn't have as much impact on me as it seems to have had on everyone else. I thought the book was more graphic and moving.

Currently Reading: Naruto haha.
