Author has written 43 stories for Fantasy, General, Love, Humor, Nature, and Life. --- Hello, and welcome to Mlle. Daae’s domain… ‘Please, do come in, she is expecting you. Would you like a tour? Well, come along then, follow me. Oh, dear, I do believe that I did forget to introduce myself. I am Naomi, one of the Mlle.’s creations.’ … ‘All right, here we are…’ You gasp as you walk into a large, circular room cluttered with all manner of things, most especially books. Music plays softly in the background, and you stop to listen. You recognize ‘Clocks’ by Coldplay, which fades slowly into Keane’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know.’ The last song to play is ‘Let Go’ by Frou Frou. The music continues on and on, playing what you assume to be Mlle.’s favorite songs. Along the curved walls are five windows. Naomi motions to one and you step over a large volume to take a peek. Your eyes widen as you see the world beyond. Naomi smiles at your reaction and begins to explain. ‘Yes, that’s Hogwarts. There’s Hagrid, and Draco, and oh! there’s Dumbledore. Why don’t you open it up and say hello?’ You turn to stare back at her, and she smiles and waves you on. ‘Go on then.’ You lift the window latch and cautiously stick your head out. The old wizard looks over his half-moon spectacles and smiles, his eyes twinkling happily. ‘Well, hello there! What brings you here to Hogwarts?’ ‘Hello’, you stammer, surprised out of your wits. ‘Lemon drop?’ The wizard asks, holding out a bowl filled with the sweet, sticky candies. ‘Yes, please,’ you say as you take one. Dumbledore smiles. ‘Good day to you,’ he says, waving as he walks on. You bid him good-bye dazedly, turn back to Naomi, and latch the mysterious window behind you. Naomi points to the next window and you walk over shakily. You press your nose to the window, expecting to see another part of Hogwarts. ‘Yes,’ says Naomi from behind you, ‘…Middle-earth, Rivendell to be exact.’ You hurry to unlock the window and push out the circular glass to stick your head into the Elven city. You take a deep breath, your lungs filling with the fresh, fragrant air. ‘Look!’ You cry. ‘Legolas! And there, why, there that’s Gandalf, and Gimli, and Pippin! And,’ you gasp, ‘it’s Frodo!’ Frodo smiles and walks up to the window, followed closely by Pippin. ‘Mushroom?’ Asks Pippin. ‘No thanks,’ you say, grinning. ‘Who are you?’ They ask simultaneously. You tell them, and they smile heartily. ‘Of course, of course,’ the Hobbits say. ‘Well, it was great talking to you,’ you say. Frodo and Pippin wave good-bye as you close the window and wander anxiously to the next. You see a huge stage framed through the window and you cock your head curiously. Something is being performed. You open the window outward to listen. Naomi smiles as operatic lyrics drift through the open window. ‘Past the point of no return, the final threshold. What warm unspoken secrets will we learn, beyond the point of no return?’ ‘The Phantom of the Opera,’ Naomi explains to you, as you become entranced in the scene before you. ‘Mlle. even used her powers to fix a bit at the ending. She said that was all that the story was missing…a happy ending.’ You smile slowly, and as to not disturb any of the audience members, close the window quietly and move on to the next. Naomi smiles and motions through the window. You see a girl, a smiling girl talking with a handsome rouge. ‘Tortall,’ Naomi whispers. ‘It is Alanna of Trebond, Tortall’s only female knight…and George, the King of Thieves.’ You smile and open the window to poke your head out. ‘Hello,’ you say. Alanna and George smile. ‘Hello,’ they reply. ‘Are you really a knight?’ You ask her. ‘Yes,’ she answers, smiling. You smile back and turn to George. ‘King of Thieves?’ ‘That’s me,’ he says. ‘It was an honor to meet you both,’ you tell them nicely as you close the window and they turn back to continue their original conversation. Slowly, you move towards the last window. You frown as you peer through and open it slowly. You see a cold, stone bridge standing over a dark abyss. In the middle of the bridge lies a blood red rose. You jump, startled, as you hear a cold laugh. You turn and see an old man with a shovel standing next to a hole in the ground that reminds you a bit too much of a grave. You look up as something flies by. Squinting, you see a tin plane holding…a fairy and a dwarf?! A frigid wind blows by, followed closely by a shower of pouring rain. A bolt of lightening cuts through the dark air, catching fire to a tree next to the grave. The earth begins to rumble and the bridge cracks slowly, giving way at last and falling down into the endless darkness, followed by the single red rose. Confused, you turn to Naomi. She smiles. ‘A world,’ she says, ‘of the Mlle.’s creations.’ Realization crawls over your face. ‘Mlle. Daae’s creations…’ Naomi smiles. ‘The Mlle. will see you now,’ she says as she points to the door. ‘Just through there and down the hall. Just follow your imagination.’ You nod and start towards the door, but then you remember that you forgot to close the final window. You turn to see Naomi wave and smile, then step through the open window leading to Mlle. Daae’s creations. You smile slowly, close the window behind her and set off towards the far door with a new spring in your step. Mlle. Daae is ready to see you… --- *A few notes on my poetry* ‘Heaven’/ ‘Hell’ – I was simply inspired to write ‘Hell’, and decided that I could also create a poem revolving around Heaven. I am not a religious person in any way, though I do enjoy writing about such things…just thought I’d let my readers know. ‘The Elementals’ – I had ‘The Water Lord’ posted, but I took it down, because I may revise it a bit. ‘The Master of Air’, is now up and posted. --- | |||||||||
