A renewal of life, vigor, interest, etc. Rebirth. phoenix - Noun. (1) A mythical bird of great beauty fabled to live 500 or 600 years in the Arabian wilderness, to burn itself on a funeral pyre, and to rise from its ashes in the freshness of youth and live through another cycle of years: often an emblem of immortality or of reborn idealism or hope. (2) A person or thing that has become renewed or restored after suffering calamity or apparent annihilation. Raye Dragonmage was a character I made up in the fourth grade. She was a horrid Mary Sue, and though I tried to fix her, all attempts failed. She's been recycled into an RP character by the name of Rayena Calanth, and bits and pieces of her may be found in Charlene Montgomery when I get around to writing Mydnyte. However, I've gone through a lot since I made her up, and I feel that the changes I've made to myself deserve a change in name as well. This is my rebirth. Stories in Progress: Rule the World: Revised Edition: She wanted someone to give her the world. She wanted the stars from the sky, the glass slipper, the sunset ride on the beach, the kiss to end all kisses. She wanted the fairytale, complete with a dashing hero and herself in the starring role of heroine. But when he gave her exactly what she wanted, she found she wanted nothing more than to give it all back. Who is he? James Auburn, an infamous air pirate. Who is she? Rebecca Browning, a simple maid. James lives a life of adventure. Rebecca is happy to have a life at all. When James sweeps Rebecca off into the sky on an adventure she'd only dreamed of, she thinks that nothing could get better. However, things aren't quite that easy. Rebecca's past is darker than she would like to admit, and its coming back to haunt her. James has enemies that are willing to do anything to get to him, including going after those he cares for. On top of all of that, Rebecca is unaccustomed to James' hectic life, and always seems to be misstepping. Throw in the fact that in their world, Greek gods and goddesses walk the streets, Atlantis never sank, and the Gates of Hell are a real place, and we have some problems. Over the Hills and Far Away: Title subject to change. Adoni is an Atlantian student studying magic at the only place in the world where such things are taught. Unfortunately, her control is a little less than perfect. Despite that, she's massively powerful. Unfortunately for Adoni, when a Seer predicts the downfall of Atlantis, the most logical person to go to is the strongest. Before she really knows what's happening, Adoni is pulled away from her studies and sent on a mad quest to save her county, with only a few cryptic clues from a vision and a bastard prince to help her. But the prince knows a few things, too, and one of them is that Adoni plays a larger part in the scenario than she could have ever guessed. Knowing the danger she poses, he tells her that he'll help her, but only if she agrees to leave Atlantis and never return. Her choices are grim: exile or damnation. The problem is, Adoni isn't sure if she can face either. Keeper: She was the one who fell from grace and paid a price far greater than a few broken bones. He was the one sent to bury her remains. But just when he thought he was finished, she came back to life - and asked him to save her. She's Mira Peil, aka Mira Talia, the adopted daughter of the Queen of Korane. Recently revealed as a Keeper, one bound to a dragon in order to protect the law of the realms, Mira has fallen out of favor with the people of Korane, who despise Keepers, and for a good reason. He is Lance Shaeras, son of the man who killed Mira's a birth mother. He's supposed to make sure Mira dies and stays dead. But Mira is desperate to know about the past she can't remember, and Lance is willing to tell her everything, with a few minor adjustments made in his favor. Mira goes to him willingly, craving knowledge of the memories she was forced to forget. But there's a roadblock in Lance's path to kidnapping the princess and turning her to his cause: Jareth, her bodyguard. He's devoted to her, mind, body, and soul, and he will stop at nothing to keep her safe. Her keeper since she was young, Jareth is determined to bring Mira back to Korane and restore the proper balance. But devotion can only go so far... Spaghetti and Waffles: HIATUS, probably permanent. Completed: Until I Wake Up: NaNoWriMo 2007. There's something wrong in the realm of Faerie, and Rowan Laestaes, the prince of the region in question, is determined to fix it. Salvation comes in the form of a human girl living on Earth. Chloe Lytton used to believe in magic, but she feels that she's grown up a bit since then. But when a vacation at Lake Leelanau in Michigan goes horribly wrong, Chloe loses two of her cousins and is spirited away to Faerie, where she finds herself involved with Rowan on a desperate quest to save Faerie. Chloe hardly remembers anything about Faerie, and is quickly lost in a world she knows nothing about, completely relying on Rowan to keep her alive. However, Rowan is hiding a dark secret that could change everything... To Bring Her Back to Me: The only thing I have ever written from a male perspective, this is one of my absolute favorites. It's a poem, not a story. It's...Atlantis plus Little Mermaid plus the Greek legend of Orpheus plus my own little twist. If you love romantic fantasy stories, read it. The premis for this? It's a ballad that belongs to Arylia and the Element Isles in my world. It was originally much shorter, but I decided that in some cases, bigger is most definitely better. Bring on the Raine: A oneshot about a girl who lives on a cursed island, and longs to escape. A foreigner offers exactly that chance. Good things come to those who wait, but they don't always last forever. Accidental Angel: NaNoWriMo 2006, being posted for the first time. When a drug deal goes bad, Amber Rogers accidentally kills a man, and is forced to flee for her life. Before she gets very far, a newly-made guardian angel finds her, and sees the trouble that she's in. He figures that he'll do them both a favor and give himself another shot at life as a human while saving her soul...and gives her his wings. Now, Amber has been thrown into the middle of a world she knows nothing about, guarding the best friend of the man she killed, and being dragged across the country as part of her charge's attempt to stop her from getting caught by the cops so she can just die. And with a war between Heaven and Hell brewing on Amber's behalf, things are getting worse...fast. Rule the World: Since childhood, Rebecca Browning has wanted a fairytale. She wanted someone to give her the world. She wanted the stars from the sky, the glass slipper, the sunset ride on the beach, the fairytale ending, the kiss to end all kisses. When the dashing son of the family she works for enters the picture, Rebecca believes that her dreams are the last thing she's going to get. James Auburn is an air pirate, living a life of adventure, but he's also an annoyance and a rake. But when he has to beat a hasty retreat from Victorian London in an alternate world, Rebecca is sent along to help him by her employers. She expects to quickly return home...but finds herself along for the ride. Before she knows it, she's caught up in an adventure, and James is seemingly obsessed with her. It's everything she ever wanted, but it's something she's not quite sure she likes. She wanted a fairytale, complete with a dashing hero and herself in the starring role of heroine. But when he gave her exactly what she wanted, she found out she wanted nothing more than to give it all back. Things to Look Forward To: Mydnyte: (Possibly to be retitled Counting Stars.) Gillian Montgomery had a promising, blossoming career in the acting field when she landed the lead in the latest Hollywood blockbuster. The problem? She suddenly up and disappeared. Her younger sister Charlene is under the spotlight now, suspected of kidnapping, or even murdering, her starlet sister. Charlie doesn't know what's happened to her sister, but she does have her suspicions...and when she sets out to investigate them and clear her name, she suddenly finds that she's fallen through the cracks in our world and into another one. It's a world where magic is real, humans are not the top of the food chain, and a dark, mystical city comes to life at night. With no way to get home, Charlie is trapped in a sort of underworld known as the City of Mydnyte, with her own universe just out of reach. To top things off, she's found her sister: Gillian's the mistress of the man who leads the gang that leaves Mydnyte in a terror. And now, both Gillian and her boyfriend want Charlie dead. Her only hope lies with one of the few humans she can find: an assassin known only as Rhett who claims to know the way back to mortal Earth. But unknown to Charlie, Rhett might have motives of his own... I Don't Love You (And Other Lies): Confessions of a Compulsive Liar: If FP will even let me have a title that long. Jamie Hu is a compulsive liar, but what's wrong with that? They're all white lies. She just wants to make her life more glamorous, more interesting. Of course, by the time she's twenty-five, her entire life is a lie, and even she's having difficulty keeping track. She lies to make herself look better at work, to get guys to ask her out on second dates, to make her friends believe she's trying harder than she really is, to make herself feel better. No, she doesn't speak Chinese, despite her Asian background. No, she doesn't have a summer house in Monterey. No, she doesn't actually like sushi, and no, she doesn't have personal connections to Precipice Records' hottest-selling bands. But she certainly wants people to think she does. On the other hand, she has things she lies to conceal. Yes, she has a secret anime collection. Yes, she loves Orlando more than Johnny. Yes, she's a secret chocaholic. Yes, she wears Hello Kitty pajama pants and has a Happy Bunny poster on her bedroom wall. Yes, she spends her evenings eating ice cream out of the carton and playing video games with her best friend Nate. And yes, she's completely in love with him. But he'll never know that. | |||||||||||||
