As most of my friends from school know, I've wanted to get my hair cut for awhile now and my mom needed to get hers done too, so today we went out to get our hair cut. First we went and got some food at a Thai resturant (I had curry, but it wasn't what I thought it would be) and then we drove over to Borders so I could get some manga with the $50 I won at bingo earlier this week.

I had to hurry, but I'm happy with what I got. I got: Red River Vol. 10 & 11; Beauty is the Beast Vol. 1 & 2 (I love Wanibuchi!!!); and Black Cat Vol. 1. I bought all five of them for less than $50 dollars with my discount card, so I was happy.

Then we got to the salon.

Not only was I waiting for my turn for almost 2 hours while my sister and mother got their hair done, but everytime my mom asked me what I wanted, I would show her a style that she deemed 'too thin' or 'too short' or 'too WHATEVER'. Finally I got my hair shampooed and was about to get it cut when my mom smirked at me to show the lady my reference picture. The lady said it wouldn't compliment my face right, I said I didn't care, but her and my mother ignored me and talked to each other about how MY hair should look. I was about to get up and say that if I couldn't get it the way I wanted it, I wouldn't get it done at all. But of course, little, stupid, can't-say-anything-rude-to-strangers me didn't speak up so the lady instructed me to a chair and showed me a picture before starting to cut my hair. I HATED THE PICTURE. I did NOT want my hair like that. But does anyone listen to me about my opinions on MY body? NO.

The hairdresser tried to strike up some chit chat, but I didnt' really answer her besides "Uh, I guess" or "Ok" so it was a pretty quiet session. My mother was smirking at me in the mirror and the lady thought it was because she LOVED what was going to be done to my hair, but I knew she was only happy because she got her way. If you've never met my mother, consider yourself lucky. My mother is the most aggressive, demanding, controlling woman in the world. If she doesn't get what she wants, she acts like a spoiled brat until everyone submits to her way.

La la la, about twenty minutes later my hair is done, my face is about to crack from the fake smile I've had plastered on it for the last half hour and my hair looks like shit. The lady and my mother think it's WONDERFUL. As I walked by my mother by the door, she asked if I liked it and I said "It's nice". She smiled again and said "You don't like it?" DUH. I smiled and said, "I hate it. It's not what I wanted, but who cares right?" and smiled wider while walking out. As we got outside, my mom asked me why I hated it and I told her it looked stupid, it wasn't what I wanted, and no one ever listened to what I had to say. We got into an arugement and she got pissy and we went into the comic store a few stores down to get my brother, sister and dad. She kept asking my dad and sister what they thought and they liked it (probably because my mother liked it and they didn't want to piss her off) and I kept telling them I hated it, but did anyone care? No.

As I walked out to the car, my hair drove me crazy and I shook my hair and ruffled it with my hands, ruining about ten minutes of styling. I didn't care. My mom threw another fit and we went home. My dad told my sister and I to thank my mom for taking us to get our hair done, but when I did, my mother threw yet another fit, claiming (in a very sarcastic and rude voice) that she was so sorry I didn't get what I wanted.

Well, if you listened to me, I would have, no?
