Author has written 29 stories for Fantasy, Humor, Humor, Romance, Haiku, Horror, General, Life, Historical, Essay, and General.

I'm not so very good at writing biography, I find it tedious. So please accept the following in it's place:

I'm in my twenties and I go by the nom de plume of Rune Vanyarin (although I've several other usernames). I like things historical and things poetic. My writing style (and my entire being, for that matter) is somewhat out of date. I'm actually not so very good at writing at all, I just ape the Greats. I listen to Opera and Metal. I'm a bit of a linguist, a bit of a nerd, a bit of a historian, a bit of a hermit, a bit proud and I've a tendency to use the phrase "a bit" where "very much incredibly so" would be a bit more accurate. A few of my favourite authors and poets are (in no particular order and with my deepest apologies to those many I've accidentally or absent-mindedly omitted): Robert Louis Stevenson, JRR Tolkien, John Keats, HP Lovecraft, Jules Verne, Bram Stoker, Yuki Kaori (The only Mangaka in this list, she should feel honoured), Cynewulf, John Masefield, John Donne, Arthur Conan Doyle, Edmund Spenser, Vernon Lee, Raymond Chandler, Æschylus, Thomas Mallory, Aleksander Pushkin, Oscar Wilde, Mark Twain, Edgar Allan Poe, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Thomas Chattertonand again let me offer my regrets to those I've forgotten. I'll add you later as I recall you.

I've also a taste for our old epics, including: Beowulf, the Eddas, Das Hildebrandslied, Das Nibelungenlied, The Kalevala and every bit of Old Anglisc alliterative verse I can get a hold of.

To my mind, there is nothing more wonderful than written language. The Bard said the pen is mightier than the sword, I respond that the sword itself would be forgotten were it not for the pen.

The first pieces I put on this website I wrote in 2005, that was some time ago (the time of writing is AD 2009), expect the stuffs here to be of vastly varying quality.

And with that I bid you enjoy my pieces or do not enjoy them, I'd be obliged for comments either way. And I'm not at all adverse to readers pointing out my flaws, as long as they're not asinine about it. Don't inform me that my old limerick "sucks", instead have the decency to tell me why it "sucks".

1. On myself and authors » reviews
NEW CHAPTER: Commentary on John Keats. This is a collection of short pieces, some autobiographical and some more objective, about certain authors and my thoughts about them. As I write short bits of this nature I'll add them as chapters here.

2. Theodwita
Theodwita is an Anglo-Saxon word roughly meaning "Historian" or "Loremaster". In this piece I tried to capture the essence of that idea. I'm not sure if it works or not, but I'm trying to set it to music anyway. Why isn't Historical one of the genres here

4. Tapio Spirit of the Forest reviews
A monologue concerning the woods. I'm of the opinion that this piece describes itself and any prefatory statements on my part will only bore the reader and delay reading the actual piece, which is relatively short anyway.

5. Vignette of a Young Man on Inventing Something New
This is an attempt to write a character who has almost nothing in common with myself. It's a first-person monologue and somewhat experimental for me. I think the writing style may have suffered because of the narrator, but it's still quite readable.

6. We are the Dancers reviews
A young man from the eighteenth century meets his sister from the twentieth. This story has time travel in it, lots of it. It also has a great deal of long, archaic sentences; the narrator is from the 1700's so I took some liberties with the style.

A single epic sentence of 119 words, most of those words kennings or adjectives. As with most of my pre-2009 work, the topic is silly. Updated July 2009, some slight changes made to the grammar and the character's name changed out of respect for Tolkien.
