| N.S.L. Jewelles |
Author has written 8 stories for Romance, and Fantasy. Hey! I'm Jewelles and I've been writing complete stories since late winter of 2003. I've completed 3 novellas and there are many more in the works. My Rules Regarding Sex- Things get steamy between my characters. I will not deny that under any circumstances. However, I'm a strong believer that porn is not the kind of thing we need in society. Therefore, I invoke this rule upon all of my stories- no visuals ofsexual activity. If there is to be an intimate scene, it will be between chapters. Leave it up to your imagination. I try to keep my stories at a T/PG-13, not a M/R. If it is a higher rating, it is not for graphic sex (or language, see below). Regarding Death- I don't love character death. It's not me. However, death must happen for some plots to progress. I won't skirt around the subject- it happens. My in-story deaths are all realistic and will therefore be semi-visual, depending on the circumstances. Don't read if you can't stand death sequences. On a similar note, I don't often kill MC's (main characters) but, on occasion, I will, but it is a tough decision for me, understand that. The difference between the T/PG-13 I aim for and a M/R I may get may be in response to some tough stuff, like death. Watch out for it. Regarding Language- People swear. That's the simple fact of it. My characters swear too. I do, however, try to refrain from using "the F-word" if at all possible, mostly because I try to keep my stories at a T/PG-13 rating. If it is rated M/R, it is for reasons other than language (or graphic sex, see above). Regarding Characters Below the Age of Consent- My characters are mostly in their teens and early twenties. Those who are underage are typically not underage for their time or society. As well, they may be very young fulfilling a role we would assume to be for someone older. In the circumstances that the story provides, it may be necessary for them to assume a more adult role at, say, 14 or 15. That is only in response to the story. I do not believe in sex between an older person and someone below the age of consent, nor do I believe in underage drinking. However, if the story requires me to use these things, I will. But, as I mentioned before, their society may allow for it. I try to keep my characters realistic to their time period. Someone in the age of King Arthur isn't going to say that s/he can't drink because they're not old enough. Regarding Violence- Violence is necessary in some stories. That's the plain and simple fact and you have to face it. I'm not the kind of author who likes to write violence, but if it's important, I use it. Live with it. As I've said before, any M/R rating will probably be from the themes in the story, or many things (language, sexual overtones, violence) put together, but not for hard-core violence. If you want that, go somewhere else. I have to say that I sort of skirt around really violent scenes, just because that's my style. Again, learn to live with it. If you like the writing, it shouldn't matter how violent it is. Regarding Ratings- As I said before, I try to maintain a T/PG-13 for all stories I put on FictionPress. Unfortunately, as I also mentioned, things happen. A higher rating may be unavoidable. Know that a story of mine that is rated M/R isn't going to be like other ones of the same rating. It may be for sexual overtones and language that would normally gain a T/PG-13, but includes some fight sequences or very mature themes. Therefore, it gains a M/R. | |||||||||
