Expanded Summary of The Gilded Cage Idris and Aaliya have lived all their lives cloistered in a city hidden miles below the ocean’s surface. The city of Wythe should be a haven for them after their race was hunted off the face of the planet, but they have spent the last few years chafing at the limitations placed on them by their respective circumstances. Idris is kharat, considered so lowly a member of society that few willingly interact with him. Aaliya is the only child of the Lord of Eastern Wythe, one of the four men who control the city. Together they form an escape plan so they will finally know the world that exists beyond the ocean floor, but as they say: even the best laid plans often go awry, and unfortunately for them, Aaliya’s never been known for the quality of her plans. A Little Mermaid reimagining. I am also posting on The Write Away, a LiveJournal community that is a safe haven from the rash of plagiarism that's taken over FictionPress and FanFiction.
