8.6.09

Been really busy with work, band camp, and road trips across the country for college visits. I'm a few chapters in on Imperia, but I'm still tweaking some stuff on the second one. Haven't even started on the next Darkening Twilight chapter, but I'm itching to do so even though I've gotten no feedback on the more recent chapters. :/ I really wanted to see if the cast was getting too large too quickly and if the shift away from Meada/Kurda/Sinclair was too awkward... Jay isn't being much help, so... Huh.

7.7.09

A lot of updates this summer as compared to the past year... Whew. Anyway, I'm taking A Darkening Twilight off its hiatus because I just can't stay away from it. I'm rewriting my lost chapters, but I've found that they're easier if I lay off the Kurda/Meada/Sinclair drama for a while. So, since I find Ransom and Glynn so easy to write, the next few chapters are going to be flyin' by. I still miss you guys who used to critique for DT. :c

7.1.09

I've just changed the name of Imperia: Leviathan Rising slightly. I added "(concept)" onto it because I'm going to upload the newer and improved version as a separate story under the same original name. I just don't want any confusion. xD I've done a lot of revision on the original concept, but it still has the basic plot line and the characters are more or less the same ((Matthew was based on a roleplay character of a friend of mine, but he's been replaced with a character based on Matthias... which happened to be my own character in that same roleplay. I don't particularly like using other people's characters, even with permission. It's too strange. So, it had to be done. The other main characters haven't changed much, though.)). I'm still having troubles with that first chapter, though. I can't find a way to easily set off into that grand plot so quickly, but I don't want to drag on for chapters to get to the initial point... Oh, well.

6.26.09

So, I haven't updated in over a year. :/ Well, our old computer committed suicide, so I've lost the latest chapters of A Darkening Twilight. I also had AP Chemistry this past year and had no time to rewrite my lost chapters... Eh. I'm also kind of bummed 'cause I had started rewriting drafts of Fate Is Forever and Phantom of the Desert. I had some snippets of FIF stored away on disc, but Phantom is completely gone forever and I have forgotten the finer details over the years (it's been four years since I originally wrote it). I've also lost all of Desperatio Es Deliratio and its prequel and sequel. My very first ever Hallen Saga story (The Hunts of Hallen Saga) was lost a few years ago, also. So... The only one I have going strong at the moment is A Darkening Twilight, but I've lost a bit of important stuff on that, too. It's just kind of irritating considering I've been working on my Hallen Saga stories for over four years now. Oh, well.

6.3.08

So, yeah... School is finally over and I can finally escape my chemistry/algebra II nightmare FOREVER! Or at least until I take AP Chem next year, woe. Anyway, should have A Darkening Twilight update within twenty-four hours to finally put an end to the chapters I despised... 'Cause I hated the first four chapters and I'm going to have to redo them anyway since they were quite ick. But finally stuff is happening so I'm actually motivated to write again. I wrote most of chapter five today actually quite happily because I accidentally erased it a few months ago. But that version was rubbish, so I'm not complaining. Too bad I have no one to critique me any more, though... I loved you all and your tips and advice and the jokes and the... sniff... Good bye. Oh, and Jay is on vacation for a month, so I'm on my own for a while. Not that he's any better at grammar/ sentence structure than I am.

I realize that I am a teenage writer that only writes in my free time. I realize my writing may suck because I do not devote my life to writing and because I have not had the experience to be a great writer. I write for my own amusement and to improve. And I wrote that only because Jay was poking fun at me over the phone, the jerk. xP

2/20/08

Wow... this semester has been a killer for me. Almost triple the essays and lab reports and models and research projects and OH MY GAH, NUE'S HEAD IS GOING TO EXPLODE. Ahem. So, it's doubtful that there will be a February update... Which is sad considering there was no January update...Anyway, the band Skillet is going to be in concert in TWO days, so Nue may just have a heart attack from stress AFTER having the band members sign her itty bitty cast iron skillet with her marvelous silver sharpies... Or she may work on the next A Darkening Twilight chapter! Huzzah! I've already started on it and it's going so much better than the last because it's not just Meada, Kurda, and Sinclair sitting around doin' nothing. NOPE! It's mostly about Glynn and Ransom -who has only gotten like six or seven lines worth of recognition so far- and battle and introducing yet another mysterious character you know absolutely about and STILL not telling what the heck a Jasong is or why Paodilv (the other side of the world) is taboo to speak of, so yeah. This really long author's update thing is the temporary replacement for a chapter, so get over it.

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to A Darkening Twilight! It's a year and a few days old now! Yay! Too bad I can't update in celebration 'cause the chapter is not even halfway finished yet! If anyone that I know or has actually read any of our stories is reading this, then I'm actually surprised 'cause most people who have been reading or that I know don't write for FP anymore! Now Nue shall shut up and the excessive exclamation marks shall cease!

1/1/08

A new year and a new goal- to update at least once a month (and to hopefully have some wonderfully nitty gritty CC piled up at the end of '08).

Their Names: Nue and Jay

Gender: Nue- female, Jay- male

Roles: Nue writes and Jay edits- we both research

Nue

I'm not funny so don't tell me that I'm amusing unless I know you well enough to know you're joking. I have only a dry, brittle sense of humor. Don't be alarmed if my attempts to crack a joke harm you in any way. There will be shrapnel.

Reading is great and reviewing is fun, so I'll pretty much review whatever I read... if I bother to search for stories to read in the first place... Constructive criticism is even better and I'll try to give some away if I can.

Say you like or utterly hate my stories if ya want. Just give a reason. It helps. A lot. Especially because I take all criticism to heart. But only if it makes sense. Yeah.

I'm a fan of being a jerk, marching band, Skillet, working at the zoo, soccer, snowboarding, drawing, bananas with tea, running, and gymnastics. I don't like unhealthy eating or laziness, though I'm guilty of the latter.

Jay

Nue: Jay is making me write this section for him because he's too lazy to do it himself. Quote Jay: Just type a quick paragraph. Make something up for all I care. End quote.

A good friend of mine is also my coauthor for a story we haven't posted yet. We know each other in real life. His name is Jay. He's more interesting than I am, so nah. I like writing short sentences like these. Even though they hurt Jay's brain. Yeah, that was a sentence fragment. It squished Jay. Yay.

Um, he plays a snare drum in our school band, speaks with a severe U.S. Southern accent, denies speaking with said accent, and eats a lot but doesn't show it. He hates computers (if he wants to read something online he prints it out on Word first...) and helps me a lot when I'm doing research for my stories. Kudos for him.

Progress:

Imperia: Leviathan Rising -in progress-

Non-Hallen Saga-centric. Imperia, a new roleplaying game that can literally transport a player's mind to the world of the game, has become a land overrun by the filth of the world. A fighting team of elite players, who are in reality a mismatched group of none too smart high school students with no social lives to speak of, have risen to the task of cleaning the place up as a peace keeping force. Suddenly, however, Imperia has far worse to fear than player killers and hackers. A beast is taking the fantasy land by thunder, snatching control of the game not just virtually... but in that strange place called the "real world" as well.

A Darkening Twilight -in progress-

Hallen Saga-centric. Kurda and Meada Rivian are too young to lead an militia, let alone one that has a tendency to turn on its commanders. Their country has fallen and sits at the mercy of its conqueror, but the ragtag Allenine Army soon begins to wonder whether it is worth fighting against these foreign monsters. The chance to bring Hulmar, their home, out of alien reign is now if its last surviving warriors can find the reason to retaliate. Beforehand the foes had been the beasts, savage and dishonorable, but now... Of the two opposing forces, the Rivian commanders see that the Hulmarians themselves look more beastly than any enemy peasant, soldier, or mercenary. The choice is to regain freedom and dignity for their fellow Hulmarians and drive out the invaders or to repay a debt long forgotten and allow their country to come to its demise in its peace with an ancient rival. ((Not nearly as dramatic as it may seem like it is trying to sound... really.)) The newer updates focus more on other soldiers, not Kurda/Meada/Sinclair. Oh, noes!

The Way of Sagans -complete-

Hallen Saga-centric. Completed. Sort of. I may add some chapters to put some finality to it, but... Probably not. It was mainly a story to introduce the characters for a silly story we and a few friends were going to post (but wound up not finishing), but the characters are in A Darkening Twilight, so this story has become irrelevant. Odd chapters have more serious tones. Even chapters are short comedies (with humor I have yet to see...).

Imperia: Leviathan Rising concept version -complete-

Non-Hallen Saga-centric One Shot. My first draft of the story I wanted to write that originally was just a parody of all MMORPGs in general. Then I got serious with it and actually wanted to write something. I lost interest after realizing no one else found it particular engaging... Anyway, this has Leviathan in its original form, how it was originally meant to be. Back before Matthias replaced Matthew (all a matter of not wanting to use a borrowed RP character, so I used my own character... who happened to be the twin of the borrowed character)! Back when small talk was fun and when Athol and Hane-ul weren't related! Back when Ruxy was more bad ass! Oh, the joy!

Fate Is Forever -hiatus-

Hallen Saga-centric. The first chapter of the first draft of the first story (chronologically) in my Hallen Saga setting. The first draft was finished (and it was terrible enough to melt one's eyes out), but no more will be posted until I start the second draft (won't be for a while). Taking a long awaited break from this story after over twelve months of working on it.
Both Hallen Saga and Paodilv have their own myths and cultural backgrounds, but they do have one in common- the tale of the young Sagan who was given the task of saving half the world. The Paodilv myth holds the child as a monstrous demon who, although he killed the dragon who wished to destroy Paodilv, went on to murder many Paodilvites himself and called forth the mighty fire from the sky that reduced Paodilv to a barren wasteland. The Sagan myth heralds a child that slayed the great dragon and went on to save Paodilv, though the Paodilvites turned on him and built a wall to keep all Sagans out, which resulted in Paodilv rotting away because of its own evil. The true story was that Makail Akaitaa, along with his closest friends (a werewolf, a market girl, and a Paodilvite) did slay the dragon, as they were told to do by an ancient prophecy. As it turned out, however, the dragon had no intention of destroying anyone in the first place, and it was in his uncontrollable. dying rage that he set the lands of Paodilv aflame, destroying almost all life there. Despite the fact that he was responsible for millions of deaths, Makail Akaitaa became the most revered name in all of Hallen Saga for centuries to come. A certain werewolf was sometimes mentioned as a sidekick. The other two passed out of memory. Still, despite the warped legends, no one in Hallen Saga believes in prophecies any longer. And for good reason.

A Time of Darkness -deleted-

Hallen Saga-centric. Taken down from FictionPress in 2007. This one was a four chapter long ficlet that I posted just before A Darkening Twilight. It was about Eris and Crowder (two Darkening Twilight characters) whose relationship I know will never get put into DT. But then I got the crazy idea that I could put their relationship in DT, so I took this down. Which was stupid because it was lost when the computer crashed the first time. Anyway, it was romance, but it wasn't sappy AT ALL. And I'm okay with non sappy romance. Considering there is just so much going on in DT, I know that the ErisxCrowder arc never would have gotten the treatment I wanted it to (in fact, Crowder may be cut completely- Eris has already appeared, so she'll probably just have a smaller role). So, it'll just stay as a lost ficlet forever. xD

Desperatio Es Deliratio -deleted-

Hallen Saga-centric. Taken down from FictionPress in 2006. Had a fairly generic 'find the something or other' quest-like plot. It also had a happy ending, so I had to hide it from the world. xD Out of all my stories, it was the only one to not ponder on either the theme of good and evil and where to draw the line so that I myself, the protagonist of this story, am not considered evil (Darkening Twilight, Imperia, Phantom, Hunts, Emalian War, Tale of Lamren) or the theme of how to admit that you're a protagonist and you just went EPIC FAIL all over your epic adventure (Fate is Forever, Imperia, Phantom). It was just too... Happy, despite all the death and impending doom. It was too straightforward. Anyway, it was cool because, though it takes place about a thousand years after A Darkening Twilight, it had a lot of references to DT and the whole interaction between Hulmar and Ulfar. Also pretty much my only story where race plays a big part in it (though Fate had the thing with the hair... xD).

Phantom of the Desert -deleted-

Hallen Saga-centric. Taken down from FictionPress in 2005. It was a romance and I hate romance. Also, it didn't affect the Hallen Saga storyline AT ALL except for the fact that Ziekel made her debut here (she was in DED, which happens a few years after Phantom), and that really wasn't too much of a big deal. However, it was kind of cool to work with a completely different part of Hallen Saga since it's on the eastern side as opposed to the northwest and southwest, where all the other stories take place. Anyway, it was a fun little ficlet about Tama and how her best friend and her horse manage to get themselves killed one night. Years later, she finds them both in the desert... as ghosts! Except they're actually poltergeists and they're practically evil and Tama becomes a ghost tamer while having to figure out something about that cult that actually killed everyone in the first place. And I can't really rewrite this one because I don't remember anything about the cult! And Tama was a Mary-Sue, so I'll just let this one die.
