::MOI::

I'm not really good at this kind of thing.
It seems contradictory to be an aspiring author and try to attempt to describe my entire being in merely a couple of sentences, but I will try my best.

Around age 5, I received my first diary-- a shiny, slim volume with a huge "Hello Kitty" on the front. Since then, I've been writing...but I've been mostly just a diarist until the past couple of years. Then, my writing kind of blossomed when I entered middle school and my teenage years. How and why? Haven't the slightest idea. Hormones, maybe.

Anyway, I'm seventeen, considered to be geeky/nerdy/egghead/overachiever/radical/liberal/feminist/etc. by my peers (but not my friends, who are somewhat like me and have brains and integrity), so the experiences that come with that package I try to echo in a lot of my poems and stories, as writing is a kind of escape from the dull and mundane for me. However, I'm not 'emo', so don't expect a whole bunch of pathos and dark stuff here.

To me, cooking and eating is an art form and a way of communication (in addition to being fun), so I write a lot about about that. (Chocolate, by the way, is the food of the gods.) I'm a violinist, love theatre and music and detest mathematics. I like volunteering on my spare time.

I have a really strange sense of humor, I've been told...therefore, jibjab.com and albinoblacksheep.com are fun!

I'm an avid reader, and I'm influenced in some way by every book that I read...so it's so hard to pick a favorite. Really, it's like choosing between children.

Right now I'm reading Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and We Were The Mulvaneys by Joyce Carol Oates. Good stuff, good stuff.

Aspirations? Pah. I have no aspirations. Actually, I do, but I am currently feeling the need to reinvent myself. (You try recounting your "aspirations" over and over again on the endless list of college and scholarship applications piling on your desk every single day. It's humbling after awhile.) The last time I checked, I wanted to be a writer or a journalist and travel, or something like that.

I'm a columnist, and I like satire (Google T.C. Boyle for a definition of that.) among other styles of writing that I experiment with. I'll upload some of my columns when I have time.

I have a dog. Her name is Muffin, and she is quite the lovable cocker spaniel.

Check out my favorite stories and authors (Queen of Glass!) Maybe they'll become your favorites.

fin.

::UPDATES::

2.11.2007. Added some poetry: admiration of a photographer, toenail polish revelations, and the first poem in my chocolate series-- chocolate poem #1. I want to post a mock obituary of someone I don't like very much (...I was venting) but don't feel too gung ho about typing it all up.

It's raining where I live, and I tell you, it's making me lazy.
