WOOT! Woot to the mother-effing NOOT! I have been working on my novel, and I have made a lot of headway lately. I have passed the 200 page mark, and with that came the conclusion to chapter 15. It is coming along nicely, and I think I am about halfway done with the story part. Of course, after that is the dreaded typing it up, editing it, and then having my friends proofread it. And after that I will most likely retool it to the point where it is nigh unrecognizable from its original style. And then comes the hard part. I will have to find a writing agent, submit the damn thing to different publishing houses, and then go through rejection after rejection until someone takes interest in it. They will then have their editors tear into it like it was a juicy steak. They will put me through the ringer, all in the hopes that my book will be read by people, and it might launch a career for me.

Despite sounding negative and sarcastic about all of that, I am hopeful. I know I will make it, because failure isn't acceptable to me. And because I am Talerce. People don't say no to Talerce.

My story, The Hunt, started out as a dream I had. It was half dream, half fantasy about me as a satyr (A fantasy creature that I am often compared to, in real life), chasing a nymph that I was in love with in the dream. When I woke up, I couldn't get the dream out of my head. It ate away at me until I wrote out a oneshot that was intentionally vague, had no names for the characters, and was as surreal as any dream. Then I mucked it up by adding in another chapter that not only was more specific and raised the rating from K to T, but it also gave an idea for an ongoing story, and reasons and more complicated characters themselves.

Chapter two is the one I like least, currently. I had another dream of me as my satyr, Destinova, and that one bugged me too. So I wrote it down, and ended up with the most extensive chapter of the story so far (and the best, in my opinion.). Now, I can't stop thinking of more to write for it. Chapter four was based on a need to extend the world around then, and give a problem for them to deal with. I think that the emotions were a little bit forced, but it isn't bad. Chapter five was tricky to write, and I was worried that it would become repetitive fast. However, I ended up liking it. It introduced something that will be showing up a bunch more in this story: Darkness. A bit of darkness and violence here and there to spice it up. It also helped to get the characters moving, to so speak. Chapter six is another one I am less than satisfied about, but it does have some points that I think I did well. Namely, the descriptions of a foreign place and describing how the world really isn't as mundane as it may have seemed before...Even though it has always had mythological creatures. I liked the way I had magic and twists in the environment. And some of the banter as well.

I finally finished chapter 7 of The Hunt. Took me about five months too long. And during/after that, I was almost completely away from Fictionpress. Time to get back on the horse, I guess. I haven't started working on chapter 8 yet, but I think I will soon. On another note...Does anyone know how to get to all the #&ing features on this site anymore? Since they changed, I am having trouble trying to keep up. Jeese.
