THE ASCENDED ANCIENT

Who am I? I am an eighteen year-old high school senior living somewhere in the State of New Jersey.

What kind of stuff do I write? Scifi. Fantasy. I read a lot of that stuff, and I understand the genre quite well.

Why do I write? Because I have nothing better to do (LOL). On a more serious note, I've always had a talent for thinking up stories, whether it's some silly fantasy or something a little more complex. Because I've always been thinking up stories, there have always been times that I have tried to write them down. However, it was only within the last two years that my writing skills have caught up with my imagination, allowing me to share my brilliance with all of you.

How long have I been writing? I've been writing, in a sense, since kindergarten. Back then it was silly little things, like the planets in the solar system and my family. Over time, it moved up to ridiculous fantasy stories where I joined the cast of Star Trek: Voyager (Yes, I am a Trekker. Please don't throw rotten fruit at me). Later on, as my writing skills finally started to get good, I wrote a Buffy the Vampire Slayer story for fanfiction.net. It wasn't that successful, and was later banned from the site because it violated submission rules (it was in script format), but it was a nice first step. After that, I wrote a few more fanfics before taking a step into the world of original fiction in 2005.

What do I do when I'm not writing? shrugs I guess the same stuff as everyone else. I play video games, watch TV, and hang out with my friends. By the way, if you have an X-Box 360, my gamertag is Shamed Soldier.

MY STORIES ON THIS SITE

The Bite: Unwanted Calling My first original fic, it details a young kid's journey into the world of vampire slayers. It was an ok first fic, and I still have fond memories about it.

The Bite: Destiny Accepted The sequel to my first The Bite story. In it, Gregory Peterson finds that he can't stop running from who he is, and once again takes up the mantel of a vampire slayer. Another good story, but I never finished it.

How to Write a Scifi Novel This one was an assignment in school, a process-analysis parody piece. I enjoyed what I wrote for it so much I decided to post it. The title pretty much says what it's about.

Genetic Tampering I came up with the idea for this story years before I actually started writing it in December of 2005, and I'd used the names of several characters in other fics of mine along the way. My most ambitious project to date, I spent eleven months working on it. Even though in the end it wasn't good enough to submit to a publisher, this 204 page, 105,000 word novel-length story is the greatest thing I have ever written. In it, I tell the tale of ten teenagers, abducted by a secret organization because of a rare gene they posses, being experimented on. They develop superhuman abilities, escape captivity, and join forces with a powerful attorney. Together, they try to do the impossible: bring down people so powerful they control every level of the United States' government.

Apocalyptic Prophecy In May of 2006, six months before I finished Genetic Tampering, I was daydreaming in school when, out of nowhere, my mind started to run with the idea of a guy who left home under difficult circumstances and returned years later as a changed man. This single idea stuck with me, and that afternoon I churned out a basic outline for what was then titled "The Prophesy". Over the next few months, while I was writing chapters of GT, I was brainstorming and outlining this story. Finally, in November, with GT finally wrapped up, I began work on this new story. Everything I learned about writing from GT is being incorporated into a story I hope will rise up and become greater than anything I have previously done. Maybe it'll even be good enough to publish. In this story, I tell the tale of a group of people who find themselves caught up in the apocalypse. While they are determined to stop it and save the world, they'll have to be able to save themselves first. New chapters will be posted when they are ready. Please be patient, because if Chapter 1 is any indication, there may be some wait time.
