Author has written 44 stories for Romance, Horror, Song, General, Fantasy, Love, Life, Humor, Friendship, Fable, Nature, Western, Fantasy, Thriller, Action, and Humor. Even if you don't read any other paragraph on my profile, PLEASE READ THIS: This probably sounds like a very odd request, but please do not nominate me for Some Kind Of Wonderful. All of the works that are incredibly popular because of that list of stories have been plagiarized; every single author I have clicked on who puts up plagiarism notes and removes their stories is connected with the SKOW awards, and while I know it's not the creators of SKOW who are at fault, I do not want my stories on that list. I know that this sounds like a somewhat proud/vain request- I assure you I never expect to be nominated, but I have been nominated for another list, and accepted. So if you love my stories... just tell me in the reviews, and if you really feel the urge to nominate, do so with Project Fiction the resistance. My Beloved has been put on that list, and so far as I know, it's been left alone. And if you do find something you believe is plagiarism, click here. You can leave a comment on that page, or email me at that address. I will not reveal who you are to anyone, and feel free to be anonymous. I would also appreciate anyone who reviews someone they believe is plagiarizing me... be civil to that person. Yes, they're stealing someone else's work, but it can be handled with manners. ANNOUNCEMENT: For the month of October, I will be attempting to write a novel in a month- I had planned to follow the NaNoWriMo time and do it in November... but my life is lame and I'll most likely be moving right smack in the middle of November. So, due to my determination, I'll be trying to post a chapter of this story either every day or every two days in October. ;) Story summary and other updates will show up on my blog. And then here is the page for the story, in case you're curious to read the summary before I begin posting. (Character Pics, by the way)As well, there is info about NaNoWriMo, and a handy nifty link you can follow to see for yourself what NaNoWriMo is all about. Okay. So if you're curious about me, there are really only two things you need to know about me: 1. None of the stories and poetry would be here if God had not made me and given me the gift of writing. Jesus Christ is my Savior, and I give all the credit for anything you think is good to God. He is the source of my life and the giver of my creativity. But don't let that throw you from reading my works, because I rarely write something... "religious", for lack of a better word. I will have my faith in some of my stories, and I am not ashamed of what I believe. But I do not write sermons. I write stories. 2. There are only three things I will not review: stories with sex scenes, stories with same sex romances, and stories with excessive cursing. It's not a judgment on you, but I believe in keeping myself pure until I'm married, I believe same sex romance is wrong, and swearing offends me. So, obviously, the things you'll never find in my stories are sex scenes, same sex romances, or curses. But just because I don't write sex scenes doesn't mean they don't kiss, and some things are implied... I just think that sometimes it's more sensual to leave things to the imagination. And just because I don't write sex scenes doesn't mean the people are all virgins and are not flawed. They are flawed. But I will not debase my writing with the R rated scenes that illustrate how they got there. The way I write has offended one person who thinks I am a hypocrite for making one of my characters who she is. This is my heartfelt letter to everyone who reviews, especially those of you who disagree with the way I write. I am not trying to accuse with that letter, but rather explain why I write the way I do, and to thank everyone who has ever reviewed. And then... the useless babble that tells you more. I hate having a long profile, but I do want those readers who read my profile to know these things. Since my stories started to really take off, I have not been able to return reviews like I wish I could. I cannot focus on both reviewing and writing at the same time, as I will either not give your story the attention it deserves, or I get distracted and my own writing suffers. There are so many reviews to return (over six hundred reviews on My Beloved, and another 100 on Broken Dreams and Old Guitars.) and I am overwhelmed. Therefore, I have stopped returning reviews. I am truly sorry, because I feel that since you've read my story, you deserve at least on return review from me, out of courtesy alone if not anything else. I will try. But I am no longer forcing myself to go through reviews and hit a story of each and every reviewer who has ever reviewed me. I will continue to reply to your reviews, because I love hearing from you and responding to questions and comments. You, the reader/reviewers, are part of the fuel that sets fire to my passion. Read This - it is a sort of love letter to my reviewers and readers. And do read the thank-you letter for my reviewers, readers, ghosters, and nominators. I couldn't have done it without you! Writing is my passion. I will never stop. I will write until I have no words left, until my fingers wear down, until the ink dries up. And then I will die. :) I will not cater to reviews threatening to quit reading if I don't or do do some such thing. I take suggestions into mind, but I like to be original so I will most likely listen to what you have to say, thank you for your idea, and then go about doing it my own way. I write anything and everything. Novels, shorts, poetry, songs. Okay, so I've never written a haiku. But I write whatever comes to mind. And unlike a lot of writers, it seems, I do not write with the aspiration to publish. I've found in the last year or so that I write simply because I love to write. I would be perfectly happy with posting on Fiction Press forever and never earn a penny for the writing I have done, but that doesn't mean that I'm not going to try to publish. I've gotten a few threats from my lovely readers telling me I'd better publish or else. ;) Everything else you could possibly want to know can be found here. I would really like to emphasize that if you want to hear updates on any writing I'm doing, go there. I want to eventually be able to post all of my author's notes on the blog, so as not to muck up the ends of my stories. As well, any anonymous review replies I have I would like to post there, and those who submitted the reviews can comment on my reply if they like. Anyway. You'll find extras about my stories there, what I really think about my romance novels, facts about me, how I get over writer's block, character pictures, my response to "anon." in calling me a hypocrite, why I am attempting to quit posting chaptered stories until completion(it's hard to resist), future stories, questions about my sanity, my art, my attempt to help others become better authors (kind of lame, but still...), and the random blogs, thoughts, and poetry I put up when I feel like it. There's even a recording of me singing. Oh, and I twitter. ... and I finally gave in and got a LiveJournal account. Although I don't know how much I'll use it; it's basically to... hmmm... mingle with other FP writers, comment on their LJ entries... whatever. Anyway. It's there. I hope you enjoy the stories you read below, and I hope that you have never read anything like them before. I strive to be as unique as possible. I look forward to hearing your reviews. ~Mara P.S. janaPITTman: I left my reply up for two months with no reply from you, so I will take it that you aren't coming back to see if I replied. P.P.S: If you want to contact me, but have no fiction press account and would like to keep the conversation private, click here. | |||||||||||
