My name's Kate. I'm a sixteen year old lesbian with an obsession with makeup, emus, and anything green-apple flavored. My personal style is best described as an eclectic mix of goth, punk, bohemian, and anything with rainbows and/or sparkles. I also change my hair color, cut, or style every month. It's currently down to my shoulders, auburn, and crazy-curly.
I listen to a little bit of everything, mainly alternative or alternative rock. I don't listen to bands, usually, I listen to songs because I find it less limiting than saying I do or do not like a band. My favorite songs are by Panic at the Disco, The Spill Canvas, Eve 6, Fall Out Boy, Ghost of the Robot, Straylight Run, Placebo, Vertical Horizon, Taking Back Sunday, t.A.T.u., Tegan and Sara, Snow Patrol, The Perishers, K's Choice, Iggy Pop, Hawthorne Heights, Hawksley Workman, Garbage, Flyleaf, Dashboard Confessional, Elefant, The Dresden Dolls, Brand New, 30 Seconds to Mars.
My favorite movies are But I'm A Cheerleader!, Girl, Interrupted, Thirteen, Edward Scissorhands, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Breakfast Club. My favorite tv shows are Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Queer As Folk, The L Word, Degrassi, One Tree Hill, CSI, and Veronica Mars Season One. I say that because I will never forgive Rob Thomas for what he did to Cassidy.
My favorite author is Julie Anne Peters. My favorite books are Keeping You A Secret, Just Listen, Vampire Kisses, Define Normal, Rainbow Boys, Rainbow High, Between Mom and Jo, Rubyfruit Jungle, Fahrenheit 451, and Empress of the World. I also read poetry and plays.

About Chemistry:
I originally meant to do this for NaNoWriMo, the National Novel Writer's Month in which people sign up and attempt to write 50,000 words in thirty days. Well, deadlines and I are bitter enemies, so I failed. Miserably. Seriously, there are mentally disabled pigeons that could've written more in that time than I did. But I did get a few key scenes that I loved, so I opted afterwards to publish it on fictionpress. I update slowly, but I promise, I do update. EDIT: Yeeeah... I know it's been months. Really, I am writing more. I just... can't seem to write it in order, which is a problem. But I promise, sometime (maybe soon) it will be up.
Here's a basic outline of the story: Travis McCall, sweet sixteen and full to the brim with issues, doesn't have the best life. He attends weekly therapy sessions because two years earlier, he attempted suicide with his mother's Valium. His father lives across the country with his new family, leaving Travis stuck in a brand new mansion with his sister Bree, his mother Evelyn, and his mother's boyfriend Bill. And Garen. Garen Anderson, Bill's seventeen year old music-obsessed, would-be-rebel son. Garen is ecstatic and passionate and sexy and fun. He's everything Travis knows he's not. But somehow, things change along the way, and Travis promises himself it's okay to do this because Bill and Evelyn will never really get married. He promises himself that every day up until they get engaged, and then he has to hope that Garen's promises-- he loves him, he wants him, they're going to be okay -- can be kept.
About Listen Closely:
I bet you a million dollars that no one was expecting this story as my NaNo of 2006. Basically, this is Chemistry from Garen's point of view. It will obviously not be all of the scenes between them, so this will be mainly Garen's life separate from Travis, as well as some of the big things that happen between the two boys. The story itself will eventually tell the same story that Chemistry does, only it'll probably have about half the chapters. I'll also update Listen Closely a lot less frequently (haha, if that's even possible) because I want to make sure I don't spoil anything that will happen in Chemistry, because Garen does think about doing things that happen in the future, so I don't want his crazy forethought to spoil the main story. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy it. And for those who are wondering about the title...
