My name is Caritas and I love writing, which is why I am on this site. I also like to listen to music. A lot of music. Folk, metal, indie, visual kei, even a bit of country. I get called weird a lot. I've gotten that all my life, even when I didn't have green hair and walk around the school in zebra-print jeans, a black trench coat and combat boots, covered in peace signs and rainbows - so I guess that means I'm not just being quirky and alternative (I hate those words, so vague and 99 of the population seems to describe themselves as such) for the attention. I actually don't like attention all that much... but apparently the way I see the world and myself goes outside the very narrow norm. I love looking in my inbox and seeing a 'Review Alert'. My writing is very important to me and my confidence in my abilities varies greatly. Constructive criticism and positive feedback are both highly, highly appreciated and useful to me, and it really means so much to me to see that people are actually reading my writing. I feel like I was born to write, and I am constantly trying to improve. Reviews help me know what I need to work on, as well as to raise my self-esteem when I crash into depression, which is a bit of an issue for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm usually a happy person and I love the world and people in general, but I don't take well to stress and as a teenager there's all too much of that in my life. My dream is to publish a novel about people who don't usually have novels written about them. Happy goths, intelligent cheerleaders, mohawked girls who wear pretty pink dresses and like it, guys who are into cars and wearing eyeliner, or just 'normal' people who aren't what you expect. I want my characters to be realistic people with many dimensions, not cardboard cliches. I want to write something that shows the weirdness of normal people and the normalcy of weird people, and, above all, that no matter how different we may be in appearance, background, interests, or social position, we are all people and we all hurt, hope, love and learn. It probably sounds ridiculously pretentious for me to be saying this at this point in time, but this really is my goal and I will keep working until I am a good enough writer and perceptive enough person to be able to write this book.
