Author has written 7 stories for Action, Humor, General, and General. Name: Age: Blogs: yesidowrite.blogspot.com - Writing Blog: For (semi) daily updates on my writing Oh, hello. Didn't see you there. My name's Nathan, as so obviously displayed a few text lines above, and just as obviously, I'm 18. I live in Apex, North Carolina with some of my family and spend most of my time wishing I had drums and going to college in Raleigh. I listen to a lot of music, spend a good deal of my days talking to my friends which live in other states, and watch TV on Thursdays. Only Thursdays though. Anyways, aside from personal stuff, I decided to start writing only a good few years ago, maybe at 13 at the latest. I had always been one for writing very long, drawn out essays in classes, or making writing assignments longer than I was supposed to. Some time during 7th or 8th grade, my friend Jeff and I were concocting a story idea based on a little comic I used to draw in my free time. The comic was based around a character named Mike, who had a very hard time controlling his temper. Mind you, I'm not the greatest artist in the world. That, with the help of Jeff(who is exponentially a better artist), somehow evolved into a more serious type of character. I remade Mike and added more characters in, and realized that I could really do something with the idea. I named the story Rage, and to tell the truth it was originally planned to be a comic. But about 3 or 4 years of waiting and I got no product from Jeff(the artist of the comic), so I decided to turn it into a piece of literature. For years I have been working on this piece, writing it and rewriting it, working things around and changing things to try to make this story exactly what I want it to be. I've changed a lot since the idea's original conception back in 2003, so the story has gone through a lot of revamps. I'm currently in the midst of my third official re-writing of it. Maybe some day I'll have this crap figured out. I must admit, though, the most fun I've ever had writing was for my comedy, "The Online Chronicles." A few years ago, this story began as a simple rant on my Gaia Journal, and dozens of people thought that the idea was hilarious. It involves the character Nathanman as he adventures through the internet with his team of warriors. The premise is, I basically find a bunch of things about the internet that I either find funny, annoying, or vomit-inducing and I wrap a bit of plot around it using models of real life people made into some type of MMORPG form. If you ask, I'll give you connections of the characters to real life friends of mine. I'm a generally inactive writer at the moment, since my life has taken me in a lot of directions lately. But I'm working on it, don't worry. Writing Style: Mainly narratives, third person, action/adventure writing is my forte. I dabble in romance, not too much, because I'm terrible at writing it. What am I saying, I'm about as good at that as anything else I write. Inspiration: While I'm not a huge fan of him, Stephen King is a pretty damn good horror writer. He's good with suspense, and while I don't use suspense in a horror-type way, it has driven me to enjoy the art of suspense. Then there's F. Paul Wilson, the man behind the Repairman Jack series. I find his use of horror, espionage and mystery mixed with action have inspired me to write closely to his style. One major thing that inspired me to write at all was The Seventh Tower series by Garth Nix. Even though I read it at a young age, it was the first book I had read that was capable of literally taking me to a new world, making me believe these people could exist and that their customs existed. It was a surreal experience for me, truly. Thank you for stumbling upon my page. You truly are awesome for that fact. Now that you've sat through the uninteresting information about me, why don't you check out some of my mediocre writing? | |||||||||||
