My current project is: The Autumn Sun Still Rises. It is rated M for 16+ because of language and mild sexual themes. The story is about a girl who grew up in the late 1920s and 1930s. Her father was a drunkard, who sold her to work in a restaurant, while her younger sister was sold into prostitution. While she is working in the restaurant, she is treated very cruelly and often beaten. One day, a young boy about her own age gives her a red silk scarf, telling her that he will come back for her someday. The story takes place five years afterwards, where Aileen is sixteen and the boy (Leechen) is nineteen. Coming from a completely different background than Leechen, Aileen is naturally attracted to him. Her attraction brings her into a completely different world in Shanghai, one that she would have never had if she had continued working in the restaurant for the rest of her life.
