"Come in the evening, come in the morning,

Come when expected, come without warning;

Thousands of welcomes you’ll find here before you,

And the oftener you come, the more we’ll adore you."

-Irish Rhyme

Welcome, way-worn wanderer, to the infrequently attended writing dominion of K. L. Verne. Whether by chance or choice, your presence is valued and acknowledged. So, sit back, my friend, and listen to the ramblings of a very off-topic writer who conveniently finds herself in her own world at times.

General Statistics:

Name: NOYB but you may call me K. L. Verne, Krista La Verne, Klar, or a combination of any of the previously mentioned

Gender: female (but I’m certain you could guess by the name ‘Krista’)

Hobbies/Interests: writing (that’s a given), reading, singing, playing piano, trying to play guitar (and I emphasize ‘trying’ because I’m not getting anywhere teaching myself), horseback riding, track and field (predominately sprinting and long jump), Irish dancing, backpacking/hiking, canoeing and kayaking, daydreaming, dancing in the rain (cliché, I know, but completely true), and, let’s not forget my # 1 Priority – Jesus!

Christian Denomination: Schwenkfelder (Yes, it exists and I’m not joking. It’s kind of like Presbyterian…)

Political Affiliation: hardcore Republican and conservative

Favorite Books: Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell, The Odyssey and The Iliad by Homer, Light in the Forest by Conrad Ritcher, Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien, Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis, On the Beach by Nevil Shute…The list extends indefinably quite honestly, although Gone with the Wind has captured my heart forever!

Favorite Movie: (once again, an indefinable list) That Hamilton Lady, High Noon, It Happened One Night, Gone with the Wind, Wuthering Heights (with Laurence Olivier), Captains Courageous

Favorite Television Show: hands-down Bonanza

Favorite Musician: toss-up between John Denver, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and Beach Boys

Favorite Song: as of Nov. 21, 2006 – "The River of Dreams"

Pet Peeves: incorrect grammar and punctuation, degrading female stories/songs, racism, abortion, Democrats unwilling to listen to a conservative view, lying, deceitful, cheating, war-mongering world leaders (no, this does not include Bush), "angst-ing" teenagers (especially girls), today’s society and media, and sloppy handwriting

Now, I’m sure you really wanted to read that, but just in case someone is interested in me, there you have it. Everything you could wish, or need, to know to understand the rest of my profile and stories.

Thoughts on Abortion...
--What are we coming to when the most dangerous place in America is neither the "bad side" of Detroit, the Twin Towers on September 11th, nor even the front lines of Civil War battles in the 1860's, but the womb of a woman who has ascertained that her child does not have the right to live?
--Every year, 50 million abortions occur worldwide. That's almost 4.17 million each month; 139,000 each day; 5,792 each hour, and 97 each minute; and two each second. Which means that in the time it took you to read this much of my "Thoughts on Abortion" approximately 36 unborn children have been aborted.
--There have been so many people that I have encountered in the last few years that believe that the fetus "isn't living." How do they come to that conclusion, pray tell? (I would really be interested in knowing.) Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't brain activity and a heartbeat what makes someone alive? I mean, if someone is in a coma without a heartbeat, does that mean they're dead? No! Well, essentially one hundred percent of abortions occur after forty days (five and a half weeks) when a heartbeat has long since been detected and brain acitivity has already developed. (Sanctity of Life, by Charles R. Swindoll)
--Isn't it funny how Democrats are blaming President Bush for the "awful way the war in the Middle East has been going", but they themselves are waging a much greater war against people that cannot even defend themselves? The War on the Unborn kills twenty million, unborn, American citizens each year, which is almost forty times the casualties in World War II.
