Thank You, thank You, thank You, generous God!
You have injected life with joy, thus we know laughter.
You have dabbed creation with colour, thus we enjoy beauty.
You have whistled a divine tune into the rhythm of life, thus we hear music.
You have filled our minds with questions, thus we appreciate mystery.
You have entered our hearts with compassion, thus we experience faith.

~ C. Welton Gaddy

PERSONAL

The name's George. I'm your average Christian girl cruising through high school, 15 years young. If you're bothered enough to read this, you're probably wondering when I'm gonna update. Sorry, but the answer to that question is whenever I feel the urge. I write for personal enjoyment, not to a schedule. I do try and get things up here as soon as I'm happy with them though, because I know the pain of waiting for an author that never updates.

So feel free to email me at sable_shadow@hotmail.com if you wanna chat (or complain about my lack thereof updates). Most likely, I'll reply within 24 hours. Cheers and grace be with you all!

STORY STATUS (as of 2.3.08)

A Different Kind of Pain (ADKOP): Chapter 17 is 98 per cent done. Just waiting for my beta's approval.

Full Summary
When the pot of life simmers down to a new school year, what happens when you throw in a new student, a vain drama queen, an affable lovesick young man, an arrogant asshole with a big secret, a shy gay dealing with identity-crisis, a passive-aggressive player, a charismatic debating extraordinaire and another hundred or so nameless faces? A scalding of the tastebuds, that’s what!

Follow the adventures of the ‘Sexy Seven’ as they experience the whole smorgasbord of delights and disasters that Year 10 has to offer, ranging from friendship, self-discovery, love, jealousy, deception, hate, feuds, chaos and more!

Fire & Faith: A Tale of Grace: Some not so good news. I'm thinking of putting this off until I finish ADKOP...I'd like to develop my writing style a little more before I begin this.

Full Summary
Hamish Maddock is a lazy, unemployed and utterly broke failure of a human being and has no intention of changing whatsoever. But when his freeloading ways get his beloved coffee maker thrown out of a window, he knows it’s time to take action. The real question here is...just how far is he willing to go to be back on top?

NOVELS WORTHY OF MENTION
Christian

- The Heavenly Man, Brother Yun with Paul Hattaway.
A truly amazing biography about a guy who preached the gospel to people in China despite ongoing oppression.
- Prayer, Philip Yancey.
Okay, so technically this isn't a novel. But believe me, there's a pretty damn good reason why it's on the bestsellers list.
- Every Young Woman's Battle, Shannon Ethridge & Stephen Arterburn.
An awesome guide for young women who are struggling with the concept of purity in a sex-saturated world.
Crime/Tbriller
-
Frank Corso series, G.M. Ford (in particular, Red Tide and No Man's Land)
I forgot to eat for a whole day because I was reading Red Tide. No really.
- Dave Robicheaux series, James Lee Burke (in particular, Last Car to Elysian Fields and A Morning For Flamingos)
It's incredible how much I envy Burke's talent. I can't believe how easy he makes it to empathise with Detective Robicheaux, Clete Purcel and Helen Soileau. That, and his descriptions of New Orleans and its surrounds are simply magical.
- Want To Play?, P.J. Tracy
P.J. Tracy has created the most enjoyable police detective duo (Magozzi and Gino) I have seen in a long while. Deliciously fast-paced, chilling and amusing.
- In The Evil Day, Peter Temple
A provocatively violent, thougtful and magnificient novel.
-
Vodka Doesn't Freeze, Leah Giarratano
Wonderfully woven with creepy paedophiles, disturbing pasts and underground crime, first time author Leah Giarratano has done a superb job.
- Scarecrow, Matthew Riley
To quote the blurb, "It is the greatest bounty hunt in history." Riley's acute action syndrome (diagnosed by an inexpicable urge to write dazzling appearances of impossible-yet-incredibly-exciting scenes of action) guarantees absolute satisfaction for the reader.
Other
- Nineteen Eighty-Four, George Orwell
Big Brother is watching you.
- A Midsummer Night's Dream, William Shakespeare
Well this is a play, but it's Shakespeare so I'm going to overlook that. If possible, go read it then watch a performance of it. Or even better, dress up as a donkey, get yourself to your nearest big city and quote Bottom's lines to passerbys at random.
