Author has written 11 stories for Nature, Life, General, General, Essay, and Fantasy.

I am going to tell you a story, and I don’t want you to listen. I am going to tell you a story that is not fantastical, original, or even very interesting. I’ve thought about all the times I’ve sat down with the conviction that I will synthesize something meaningful, and I’ve found consolation for my many failures in the self-assured eventuality that if a gunman takes enough shots in the dark, he is bound to hit his target.

The truth is, however, that there have been too many gunmen for much too long.

The truth is that since the invention of the printing press cum automatic rifle, whatever it was that we’ve been trying to pin down in the darkness has long since been obliterated.

The truth is that literature, or whatever we wish to name the unseen target huddling in the darkness beyond human experience, has been bullet-riddled by an army of simian typists whose redemption is not their accuracy, but their persistence.

The truth is that these words are another round of slugs that careen indifferently into the shadows of the ineffable, and that these little parcels of truth have no capacity to open eyes, only to put them out with a dull roar and a wet thud. It’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye.

BANG. Did I scare you?

Before I start, I want to clear something up. This story has been written before. This story will be written again. Every exchange or action or diatribe exemplified in every character is a tired cliché pushed to the limits of tolerance. It has—all of it—been done many times before. This truth means that, to you, this story may not be worth hearing. This truth, however, does not make any story unworthy of being told. Thus I begin.

1. Blot
250 word piece to be submitted to a Gothic fiction contest on October 21st. I promise a very quick and entertaining read. I would appreciate advanced critique on the piece and suggestions for a better title.

2. The Sands »
This is an extended plot arc talking place in an original setting loosely based on Egyptian, Indian and Arabic mythical and mystical culture. If you prefer an emphasis the story-telling element over the fantasy element, I guarantee you'll enjoy it.

3. Carnival
A brief account of a young woman's experience in the House of Mirrors, wherein she confronts various aspects of humanity and passes judgment thereon. Critically endorsed as more than just self-indulgent existential drivel!

4. A Brief Consideration of a Box
A brief consideration of a box wherein a cat may or may not reside. I hate to use the expression, but it is something of a "thought experiment", though narrative-bound and based on essay discourse. I've heard it called variously a "trip" and a "thinker".
Complete - Essay - Fiction Rated: K - English - General - Chapters: 1 - Words: 798 - Reviews: 0 - Updated: 9-9-08 - Published: 9-9-08
5. The Dove and the Surgeon reviews
A look at the relationship between the irrational but very much human element and the clinical but also still human perspective. Not meant to take a side, but read whatever you will.

7. Weariness reviews
A brief exploration of the feeling of weariness, the kind that wears away at the places everyone tends to ignore. I'd be curious to find out if anyone has the same experience as I with weariness.

9. Alright reviews
This is a not-so-brief-as-it-might-be bit of poetry that was written with a steadfast dedication to lyricism in mind and hopefully an also prevalent discussion of immediately human issues. I'll let you judge.
Complete - Life - Fiction Rated: K+ - English - General/Spiritual - Chapters: 1 - Words: 504 - Reviews: 3 - Updated: 12-27-06 - Published: 12-27-06
10. The Climber
This is an over extended metaphor for the cycle of addiction. Special care put into crafting lyrical flow and alliteration, with arguably little attention paid to economy of text.
Life - Fiction Rated: T - English - Poetry - Chapters: 1 - Words: 510 - Reviews: 0 - Updated: 5-13-06 - Published: 5-13-06
