I am no poet. I have never considered myself the creative, patient type with interesting emotions to preserve forever in verse. Up until recently, the best poem I wrote was for a sixth grade project on the seasons. Ah-hem.
Summer winds will cool you off,
Whenever you are hot.
Summer is as perfect,
As a toy that is store-bought.
Brilliant, huh. I was recently reading an anthology of poems and came across some haiku. I have never respected that form of poetry. I'm afraid I never saw the point. It seems easy to make five, seven, and five syllables. Being a scientist, I decided to try an experiment. I decided that every time I had a moment or emotion that I wanted to preserve, I would make a haiku out of it. Here are some of the results from this experiment. I am also putting a few more as I feel like writing them. I am going through a somewhat poetic phase.
My homepage is my livejournal account where I discuss the poems and books I'm reading.
