MAYBELLE, 18, neurotic, possibly insane. How can I describe myself? I love God in a very personal way; I am fascinated with all manifestations of ecstasy and passion, life and death. I am afraid of mirrors and my own shadow, but I am trying to improve at living. Living is one thing I am not very good at.

I hope you enjoy your time here and find my writing useful. I write poetry, short stories, and occasional novels; my favourite genres are romance, fantasy, and science fiction. Be warned, as my writing leans towards a dark nature at times, so younger audiences should watch out. I have written tales about psychotic killers, adultery, unnatural relationships, and outer space. I think I enjoy the dark side a bit too much.

Masquerade: Welcome to the Cirque du Saturne, a dark and twisted world of pagan revelry, decadence, and deceit... a world where love is passionate and vengeance is sweet. After her father's death, Lucy arrives here to perform as a trapeze artist. She falls into a deep and passionate relationship with the Ringmaster - who, later, reveals some dark secrets of his own. However, their love is not without consequence; it's consuming and controlling, destructive and desecrating. She is caught up in the Ringmaster's power struggle between himself and the circus crew- a struggle that will culminate into rape, murder, and a final ruthless revenge.
THE INSPIRATION: Thee circus doesn't have to be all happy clowns, elephants, and jugglers, eh? I started this shortly after a trip to a circus school. The place was absolutely fascinating. So anyways, an (unoriginal) idea popped into my mind: why don't I create an obsessive, destructive, surreal affair between a ringmaster and his muse? Besides, I have a circus to work from, such a fantasy-place of luxury and wonder.

Mirrors: Once upon a time, there was a lady in the house of love. Another romance, very different in approach... she is a lonely woman trapped in a house of glass, smoking innumerable cigarettes. He is a traveling agent who frequents lonely bars and subways. There's only one mirror, and several memories, holding them together, as well as several relics of the past, such as poems, drawings, wine. And there's a betrayal that will ultimately kill one... or the other.
THE INSPIRATION: Cafes and jazz music. I wanted to try a different approach; a dark, muted setting reminiscent of film noir. You have the blond bombshell in her black dress, and the elusive man in the black fedora. I'll develop this more over time.

The Night Song: He's in love with a galaxy, and he wants to plunge deep into its core... a fantasy, fictionalized setting of outer space that's somewhat darker than the one we know; this is a world where "phantoms howl" and "black prisms" reflect your steely gaze.
THE INSPIRATION: Outer space. I've been fascinated by this stuff since I was a little girl - Magic School Bus, anyone? There was an old book in my school library that I borrowed so many times I must have imprinted myself to it. All those stars, nebula, and smoking black holes.
