Author has written 32 stories for General, Young Adult, Horror, Love, Song, Romance, Life, Nature, and General. Salutations, dear readers. Thank you for visiting my profile. I am Megii, though I also answer to Myst and Regina. Call me whichever of the three you like. About Me: I am not a talented writer. I am a skilled writer. I'm quite adamant about this. I am not a person who has always had the ability to write well. I have a good mind for plots, but the ability to write those plots was much harder won. I have studied tooth and nail, written and read countless stories and books, to get where I am today, and I am constantly looking for ways to improve further as best I can with college nowhere near my horizons. I typically write transgressive fiction. I have been a member of fanfiction.net and fictionpress.com since 2006. I think the letter Q is completely and totally useless and vote that it be discarded from the alphabet, along with most usages of the letter C and X. Christopher Paolini, the author of Eragon, is the person who inspired me to write. I am a 22 year-old American female, and my birthday is in January. I like beautiful, spooky, dark and unusual things. I am a waitress at a pizza and pasta restaurant in a rather isolated mountain ski resort town, where I grew up. I typically dress in black and red in elegant, classic styles. I despise the sound of my own voice and thus cannot speak half as eloquently as I write and take every opportunity to let silence reign. I have never been in a relationship or anything close to it and suffer a fear of intimacy. I haven't been seriously attracted to anyone since I was 11 years old. Romance delights me in literature and entertainment, but not on a personal level, and I'm a sucker for explosions and epic martial-arts movie fights. My favorite kinds of stories are tales of men and women who grow utterly sick with impossible love; of obsessive love; of forbidden love; of unusual and strange love; of love from afar... and just about anything involving the Orient--Japan in particular. My goal is to be a translator and novelist. I aim to go to college for Japanese Studies by 2014; if I fail to get the funds for that (college is very expensive in the USA), my back-up career choice is Funeral Services. I have a terrible weakness for music and fashions that pre-date 1950. I listen to many different genres of music. I am completely enamoured with the 18th century castrato opera singer, Farinelli, and I could listen to Ragtime all day long, but you'll find me head-banging to The Human Abstract and KoRN just as often as I listen to people like Eisley and The Decemberists. I don't do humor and comedy. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be able to and I'm always looking for a good laugh, but all my attempts at being funny end up just being lame and idiotic, and I just fall flat on my face. I'm great when it comes to being witty, though. My favorite books are Vladmir Nabokov's highly controversial Lolita and Anne Rice's Cry To Heaven. My favorite movie is the French duo Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources. And if Star Wars or The Lord of The Rings is ever playing somewhere, count me in as an audience member. I write way too much fanfiction. Though they haven't been in the past, these days all of my characters are connected somehow. I have a big huge family of characters that insist on weaseling their way into everything I write. Lots of Jenkins' and Jenski's and J-names. From the moment I met you, all those years ago, not a day has gone by when I haven't thought of you. And now that I'm with you again... I'm in agony. The closer I get to you, the worse it gets. The thought of not being with you—I can't breathe. I'm haunted by the kiss that you should never have given me. My heart is beating, hoping that kiss will not become a scar. You are in my very soul, tormenting me... what can I do? I will do anything you ask."―Anakin to Padmé. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones "Manon, don't run away! It's not to give you work. I was lying to you! It's because I love you, Manon. I love you with all my heart! Manon! I want to marry you! I'm all alone! I've got no-one! My grandparents are dead. My father hanged himself when I was little. My mother died of the flu. There's only Uncle Papet! He's rich, he's old. He's going to die. He's going to leave me all his money. It'll be yours, because I love you. I love you! I am sick for the love of you. It's suffocating me! I saw you bathing in the rainwater. I watched for hours. You were so lovely. I was tempted to commit a crime!" ~Ugolin to Manon, Manon des Sources (Manon of the Spring), 1986 "You know that. I told you so in the hills. I love you unbearably. Listen... please listen, Manon. Ever since I saw you, ever since I spoke to you, food has been turning to sawdust in my mouth, sleep has been a torment. If you reject me, I will die or go mad." ~Ugolin to Manon, Manon des Sources "Destiny doesn't exist. Only good-for-nothings talk about destiny." ~Cesar Soubeyran, Manon des Sources "If some people had wings and others didn't, and the government wanted to enforce 'fairness,' soon no one would have wings. Because wings cannot be redistributed, they can only be broken. Likewise, a government edict cannot make people smarter or more capable, but it can impede the growth of those with the potential. Wouldn't it be fair if, in the name of equality, we scar the beautiful, cripple the athletes, lobotomize the scientists, blind the artists, and sever the hands of the musicians? Why not?" ~ Oleg Atbashian If you open your mind too much your brain will fall out. "Mozart said 'There's nothing to composing,' and that's all we do, we just write and play and write and play and write and.." ~Meg and Dia-Here, Here, and Here My mind has touched the farthest horizons of mortal imagination and reaches ever outward to embrace infinity. There is no knowledge beyond my comprehension, no art or skill upon this entire planet that lies beyond the mastery of my hand... But as long as I live, no woman will ever look on me in love. ~Susan Kay-Phantom-Delacorte Press, 1991. Oh, the cleverness of me! ~Peter Pan Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, I have fought my way here to the castle beyond the Goblin City to take back the child that you have stolen. For my will is as strong as yours, and my kingdom is as great. You have no power over me. ~Sarah Williams-Labyrinth Save a dragon. Kill a princess. “Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.” ~Ira Glass "The gods envy us because we are mortal, because any moment might be our last together. Everything is more beautiful because we are doomed. We will never be here again, in this time and place." Achoo! Oh, sorry, I'm allergic to bullshit. Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? Oh, it IS a gun! Heroism comes not only in grand, sweeping gestures, but also in thankless work and in iron resolve. I think, therefore, I am. By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and Third by experience, which is the bitterest. ~Confucius My goodness, there's so much time and so little to do! Wait, scratch that; reverse it!~Willy Wonka "So why care for these petty obsessions? Your desire heart still beats with common blood! And what if you could have genetic perfection? Would you change who you are if you could?" ~Graverobber-21st Century Cure-Repo! The Genetic Opera They say destiny is written in stone, but even the deepest grooves can be worn smooth given time and perseverance. ~Yours truly It's easy to be strong all the time; what's hard is allowing yourself to be weak.~Yours truly The only thing better than a good boy gone bad is a bad boy gone good.~Yours truly Music are the words for the things which there are no words for. ~Yours truly Every day I think people can't get any stupider, and every day they manage to prove me wrong. ~Yours truly I didn't misread anything; my eyes tripped!~Yours Truly I am never surprised by the cruelties of humanity; their kindness, however, never fails to leave me in awe. ~Yours Truly. I'm not nocturnal, I'm just in tune with a different time-zone. ~Yours Truly Homo? Why yes, I AM a homo sapien! And what are you, an escaped NASA chimpanzee? ~Yours Truly When being creative people always tell you to think outside the box, and while that is all well and good I think it makes us overlook just how much potential is already inside the box. ~Yours Truly "If your friends all jumped off a bridge, would you jump too?" Perfection? How utterly boring. ~Yours Truly Enjoy my stories! ~Megii of Mysteri OusStranger | |||||||
