My name is Kelsey Ball. I first came up with the idea for The Slaughter House when I was fourteen. You wouldn't believe how crazy it had started out- it wasn't even called "The Slaughter House" to begin with. I named it, "Fool's Gold." It was a story about two Japanese boys who'd met in a past life, and together had to save the world from an evil witch. It was frighteningly similar to Kingdom Hearts. As I developed, so did the storyline and the characters, and it eventually ended up as it is today.

It's about two boys: Claude Seager and Dante Kennedy. Dante, the tall, dark, and handsome type with tons of hidden secrets, kidnaps Claude after murdering Claude's last living guardian. Claude, who is very cold and short tempered, is furious (of course, who wouldn't be if the local super model and most popular boy at school kidnaps you?). But, he unknowingly can't bear to disappoint him. He demands room in Dante's spotlight by getting a job as a model in Dante's mother's clothing company. The only spot open was for a girl, and conveniently, Claude looks like a girl. With a haircut, a shave, and a quick, clever name change to Claudia, he attempts to pull it off as a model side-by-side to Dante. But one day, Claude secretly follows Dante to The Slaughter House (which is a convenient place to kill people) and watches in horror as the boy he depends on in order to live tears another human being limb from limb. Terrified and disgusted, Claude runs from Dante, but only to be caught by the big bad boss himself.

I had submitted the first chapter and prologue of The Slaughter House once before, but over the two months of silence I had made some changes to the story, moving the setting from Long Beach, California to New York City, New York. I'm much more familiar with New York than Long Beach, and everyone knows how big and busy the city is. Gangs are common, so people won't question.
