Author has written 1 story for Sci-Fi.

Hello~

I am "The Whispering White Raven", female, 19, Engineering major, and probably legally crazy somewhere. :P

I write mostly fantasy/Sci-fi fiction, though I don't have anything up yet because I want to finish my stories before I post them. I also read mystery fiction, and a little romance if done correctly. Other than that though I'm a fan of horror and tragedy, and definitely adventure. :D

Thanks for stopping by~

They once had lives, but they were forfeit when they accepted the powers given to them. Now, their only chance of saving the world and all its souls is to give up everything dear to them, fighting until there is nothing left but ashes, dust, and bones.

This is a bit of a spin on the "magical warrior" anime genre that is so popular in Japan. You all know the basic working of them; five or so select teenagers are chosen to save the world from evil, toil through countless battles and angst together, until they have learned to work together as a team. Only then are they allowed to defeat the final villain, and save the people en masse, rejoice, etc.

Unfortunately, as brilliant as these anime are, I can't help but feel myself that sometimes, in light of the whole "Teamwork" moral that is being thrown around, something very important is being missed. The depth at which these anime are projecting is merely mildly deep at best, and what deeper meaning they have is easily overshadowed by their own constant angsting and learning about each other, etc. They almost always have a happy ending -because after all, going through all that grief, what kind of story wouldn't give them a happy ending? The characters deserve it.

The human mind and soul are in themselves fascinating objects. When pushed to the limits, we become stressed, lash out at each other, and push ourselves harder than ever before to accomplish our goal. My question is this, What if - what if, we didn't succeed, or at least mildly succeeded?

My story takes place in a world where the first "magical warriors" did not succeed. They left the world in tatters, merely debris and relics of the past remaining as reminders of what once was. The surviving humans of this catastrophe are left with little to no hope, and the reigning dark power is closing its hold on their throat, gearing for the finishing blow.

In light of all this darkness however, new warriors are chosen, inheriting the powers of their predecessors and shouldering the responsibility of saving the earth. Some have willingly accepted it, others reluctantly agreed, all knowing full well there was no one else left to save them.

Death is not just a possibility here, it is a very real outcome that is just as common as the littered bodies on the streets. Death however, is not the worst of their worries. Should they
fail, they loose their souls as well, and in the process erase themselves from history, their existence going up in a puff of smoke, as simple as a candle being blown out.

All of them were around when the darkness first struck and overtook civilization. They were passed over as being the first saviors of the world, because something was wrong with them individually that made the power turn away. Now, they must face what it was that made them unsuitable, make themselves suitable, and destroy the power that binds humanity down. All the while protecting what little is left of their crumbling world.

Echoes of the Stars

Based off the typical mecha anime and Gundam genre, Echoes of the Stars is about a futuristic war; set in an era of unrest and turmoil. The year is 2132, human beings have fled their long-time home of Earth and have colonized Mars, also creating large structures simply known as the Colonies between the two opposing planets. The Earth however, is a mere shadow of what it once was; ruined cities and debris littering the landscape, many species of animals extinct, and fragile shelters guarded by rebel militaries are all that is left of the former powerful planet. Large machines called Firearms are now the ruling military tools of war, and they roam the corrupted planet under the iron fist of "The Company"; a band of smaller arms dealers who have become one giant monopoly, effectively controlling the Earth. At war with the United Asian Confederation (UAC), the company seeks to destroy what is left of the former world government on the Earth, and rebuild a new one centered around itself. The UAC is resisting, although its large numbers are barely making up for the old fighter jets and tools of the 22nd century.

Mars and the Colonies are completely neutral, though their immense power is appealing to both sides of the Earth war. However Mars has started to crumble under the economic sanctions by the Earth; its new independence being held at knife-point by its former founders should they not send help.

Amidst all the chaos, rebel soldiers and Firearms pilots have come together to form a new faction called "The Graveyard", named because of MIA and even listed KIA soldiers from the Company and UAC, whom have fled to find shelter under its wings. Its rigid standing and tentative neutrality has caused no concern to either side of the war, but their existence has hardly been overlooked.

The story itself centers around a young girl named Anna Lee Haskell, seventeen and reluctant pilot of the Colonies brand new machine, Andromeda. Her mother killed in a car "accident", Anna hopes to find solace and busy herself with work from her father, Dr. Haskell, who is the main engineer for Andromeda and lead scientist for the Colonies' military. Driven to forget about her mother's death, Anna agreed to be one of the first test pilots for the machine, and be the guinnea pig for a new system to help Firearm pilots. She hadn't expected to be the actual pilot, no less be thrown into the war so suddenly. Unfortunately, things never go as planned, and Anna may end up having to point Andromeda's guns at the enemy, her allies, her father... or herself.

1. Echoes of the Stars
Year 2132. Giant robots called Firearms are now the bulk of military force. A young girl wakes in a hospital, only to find everything stripped from her, nothing but her life intact. War is upon them, the Earth is crumbling, and hope has nearly died.
