Author has written 1 story for General. Updated 5-18-2008 Did you take a wrong turn? Somehow, you've managed to land yourself on my fictionpress profile. For what it's worth, welcome and enjoy your stay! If you'd prefer that I'd cut through the rambling, below there's a complete list of fiction that's posted on this site. So, whether you're here because you're simply interested in finding out more about me, or because you want to read more of my work, I'm glad you came across this. Well, to fill the rest of my profile, I'll touch up on a few things. First, who am I? To put it simply, I'm an eighteen-year-old irresponsible college student, currently attending Western Michigan University, who dabbles too much in amateur fiction writing, having become something of a pseudo-acclaimed author. Previously, I used to have a strong interest in film production, but repeated failures have discouraged me to pursue that venue, and today I instead use my creative talents (assuming I have any) to explore the vast possibilities of writing literature. I started out writing fan fictions of the television show, Teen Titans, and now I've moved on to writing about my own characters. What is "Sunflare"? I'm afraid the more appropriate question is, "Who is Sunflare?", but the concept of such can still be explained. The fictional story of Sunflare is a project that's been going on in the mind of yours truly for over five years, and it pays homage to the various comic book and television icons that inspired it, as well as real people in my life (by using the names of real persons I know, such as the late Patrick Daneluk). Sunflare's world and story is a melting plot of a myriad of clichés used for humor and excitement, but there are also several original (or, rather, fresh) ideas in there too. "Sunflare" began as "Solar," a superhero whose powers are fueled by sun-like energy. I never really considered jotting down the idea until recently and, after souring the internet, learned that a superhero "Solar" already existed, albeit one who was vastly different from my own. Nevertheless, to avoid name-conflict, I changed my guy's name to "Sunflare". As such, I also had to change the style of the story. "Solar" was written to fit the style and make-up of several stand-alone episodes (in fiction, such episodes are termed "one-shots") that would briefly rehash his origin story, powers, and appearance in each. However, I soon felt that my attempt was somewhat misconceived, and I decided to start over, writing "Sunflare" in the style of a story arc or, as I like to call it, a storyline. Much like comic books and e-books on the web, the new story contained short parts (i.e. Part I, Part II, etc.) that contributed to a quick storyline, instead of an overwhelmingly long one-shot. There do remain, however, some one-shots that act as interludes. If you're interested and have some time to take a quick look at it, I'd appreciate any comments or remarks you have to say. Please, though, keep in mind that I'm still an amateur writer and that "Sunflare" is a work in progress. Still, I need all the encouragement I can get. What does Sunflare look like? Well, it's pretty fair to say that my skills in art are horrible, especially drawing. However, just to give you guys an idea of what Sunflare looks like, here's an image of him in costume: http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a253/alphaman2006/sunflare3a.jpg It's as close to him as you're going to see, and I might point out that it's a little lighter than on my computer. Future Projects? I'm not quite sure. There's a character in my Sunflare story, a fellow by the name of Trenton Grant, who I'm interested in writing more about. I'm thinking about putting him in his own tale, one that tells the story about how he falls from power shortly after Sunflare arrives in town. However, I can't say anything definite on it yet, as the concept is still vaguely floating in my mind. | |||||
