It's been forever since I've been here. Over a year. I'll be deleting most of my stories now. Since I was here before, I've given up on Saving Charms, finished my first ever rough draft (Breaking the Curse), started a zillion other stories I never finished, became a reviewer (http://harmonybookreviews.wordpress.com), and started working my butt off to save America's horses (www.myspace.com/charityautographs). Between all of that, I sometimes find time to write. Right now, my novel, in short, is about a girl dating an older guy and how while age doesn't matter, maturity does. I probably won't be posting it here until I'm on Draft #2.
Actually, I probably won't be posting much here at all. But I do want to read some stories. Maybe I'll post a few of my new short stories. Who knows.
Music inspires me to write. Life inspires to write. Other books inspire me to write. Inspiration comes from all around. You should learn to take life slow and listen and see what you've never heard or seen before. You'll learn a lot and write a lot better. Music is by far the best inspiration though since the lyrics to a song is a form of writing. Listen to music you've never listened to. Listen to stuff you hate. Listen to stuff you love and know by heart. Listen to country instead of rock. It'll help, believe me. And who knows, you may find something you like!
I give CC. I won't just tell you your story sucks. I'll tell you whyI think it's not so great. I'll tell you what I liked about it. Then, I'll give you advice on how to improve. You can take it to heart and consider it as a real writer should or you can ignore it and get mad about it. It doesn't matter to me. But if you really want to improve, you should consider what everyone says. I don't mean that you have to get all upset because I said I don't like it because, let's face it, no matter what you write, some people are going to like it, others are going to hate it, but you should think about what each person said. Do a lot of them give the same advice? Chances are that you actually DO need to improve in that area. But, no matter what everyone else says, you should write what feels right to YOU, not everyone else. Writing should be something that is fun for you, not a chore.
Anyway, when you review my stories, I would greatly appreciate it if you left CC and tell me what you like, what you don't, how you think I can improve, etc. I appreciate that MUCH more than "I luv it. Great job!" or "Ew. That sux."
