EDIT 8/24: How would you guys feel about me posting character pictures on a website? I have a few people in mind, and I know that i personally love photo galleries, but I also know it can be annoying to see only perfect people describing their supposedly "plain" characters. I'd obviously work on finding average people--mostly, I'd use musicians (as they can be found online but look normal), not picture-perfect actors.
Still! I'm curious how you feel. Yes? No? Maybe so? PLEASE let me know, I need a side project that won't take up as much time as writing does. Also, I like to draw; so do you think drawing would be a better way?
Update 8/19:
Hello, wonderful readers! Hope you've all had a good summer. Actually, scratch that; I hope you still have your summer, as mine ends tomorrow! Egads. And I still haven't done my AP Composition work. I'm very stupid, but I have this habit of mindlessly browsing wikipedia and it really doesn't help my case. Just a few moments I was reading up about Jamaican culture. No joke. (Is procrastination a legitimate disease?)
So I've submitted what is likely to be my last work for a while--simply named Just for obvious reasons. Even though I'm such a procrastinator, I'm really really working on not being one, so I'm going to focus on school for a little while. I have AP classes to study for, SAT prep classes, and community service on top of job hunting and practicing for my license test.
Once I have a stable environment where I'm sure I have some wiggle room, I'll get back into the swing of writing. I love you all, be good. :))
Current _ of Choice:
Beverage: I've been really into those new Snapple drinks that are supposedly for metabolism or memory or some other bull like that. Regardless, they're good.
Literature: What is the What by Dave Eggers. The story of a Sudanese man in the midst of the war, weaving in his struggles with a new life in America and how he escaped Africa; this book is fantastic. Emotional, greatly written, unassumingly funny at times, and very introspective, I recommend it for those who wish for a more serious read. :)
Movie/television show: I saw Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants...TWO and it was totally awesome. So emotional and so very girly. I also saw the Dark Knight which was, of course, epic. Just. EPIC. I still don't think it's registered to me that Heath is dead. Finally, I saw Pineapple Express, which was a lot gorier than I thought it was gonna be. It was funny, but I think it would've been better under the influence. Which is probably the point. xD
Song/Artist: A French-Finnish band called The Dø, very cool. Freak folk, I think they're classified as. Emmy the Great--a British lyricist not unlike Regina Spektor meets Kate Nash--M. Ward (who I already loved but couldn't find any music of) who is part of the band with Zooey Deschanel She & Him (which you should also check out) and Albert Hammond Jr.'s new album Como Te Llama?.
And finally, I again urge you to check out Noah and the Whale. British indie pop-ish, with cute violin solos and bubbly lyrics. Happy but not radio-pop-y music that keeps you feeling upbeat without overdoing it.
Quick (not really) About Me:
I am fifteen and I believe stagnancy is cruel, but nostalgia can be crueler. I can be summed up as a chick-lit-loving, vegetarian, artistic, tiny, rambling, talkative goof-ball. You can call me Sarah or Sar (s-air). Not be associated with SARS, please.
I like music, the outdoors, art, literature, and contemplating the abyss, as every other teen with a budding holier-than-thou complex. I listen to nearly everything under the sun, especially oldies. Like, your grandparents-swing-danced-to-this-music oldies. Admittedly an indie kid, I'm a bit of a music and art snob.
I'm a romantic, boy-crazy, and a child at heart who is forever wondering why Peter Pan never visited her and forever hopscotching between feeling my age and wishing I wasn't.
I like humor and hate soap operas--if I wanted a drama overkill, I could watch MTV. I like quirky characters and unique plots; I don't mind cliches if they're well executed, but I've already read the story about the girl, her protective brother, and his gorgeous best friend. Why would I read it again if I already know all the twists, characters, not to mention the ending? I like characters I can relate to; I don't know anyone who is leggy, sarcastic, oblivious to her looks, and totally haunted by an uber scary past.
I like writing oneshots because of their lack of need for commitment. I try writing full-length stories a lot, but my attention is fleeting and I can be easily distracted. I really do try though...but, still, I wouldn't always take my word for something being posted when I say it will. :x
Obviously, a big flaw of mine is that I tend to go on and on. Hence the rambling bit of this "quick" about me. (Oops.) Maybe one day I'll successfully keep this short.
...Maybe not.
And there you have it...
If you'd like to talk, ask me a question, etc., don't hesitate to drop me a PM! I always feel flattered and I promise I'm a nice person (and I love getting them), so you should. We all end up happy. Not to mention--if it wasn't obvious already--I'm a jabberjaws, even online. (Contact me otherwise? My DA is vintagey. Not that I ever update there--again, oops.)
Now that I've stolen far too much of your time, I will leave you with this final quote:
"Molly: I knew it. As soon as I saw that suit.
Henry: Knew what?
Molly: You're a 'just' guy.
Henry: What's a 'just' guy?
Molly: A guy just like you. Same hair, same suit, same shoes, walks around, no matter what, you think it's all just a store, it's just a bench, it's just a tree. It's just what it is, nothing more!"
