Hi! Thanks for checking out my profile. I'm Heather Lee Fleming, an aspiring writer. My main area of interest in writing is the speculative fiction genre, which includes fantasy, sci-fi, and supernatural horror. I've had some stories in that genre published in magazines and anthologies, and I even have a novella published by Carnifex Press. You can check that stuff out on my homepage.
But the reason you're looking at my profile is probably because my Aiming High series (yes, it's going to be a series) has caught your interest, or at least your passing attention. I'm glad that you liked it enough to check into it a little further, so I'll write a bit more about it here.
Aiming High actually started as a script for a very large project for one of my classes at university (which is why it's kind of dialogue heavy). When it was all said and done, it ended up weighing in at a little over 300 pages. Even though I don't write much contemporary fiction these days, it seemed like a shame to let so much work go to waste, so I've started converting the scripts into short stories. The idea for my project was actually based off of a series of books that I used to write in 5th and 6th grade. My writing has improved a good deal since then, and now I look back at the stuff I wrote way back then and shake my head, but everything I've written to date has taught me something. Either way, there was some good content in those old stories. They were lacking in plot and tension, but there were some characters who I could see definate potential in, and since I had a very limited amount of time to write a very large amount of script on top of all my other school and freelance work, it was nice to have some prewritten text to use as a basis.
As of right now I have ten scripts that I'm in the process of converting to short stories, and I have two more ideas for stories that will be added into the series. They cover the Weaver House kids' freshmen year at Aiming Academy. I have plans to continue it into the earlier part of their sophomore year at least, and possibly further if people like it and time permits it.
Well, that's all I can think of to say right now. Thanks for reading and for stopping by. I hope you enjoy my stories.

A note to those people whose stories I review. I try always try to point out something that I think you do well and something that I think you could do to improve your story or your writing in general, whether it's a consistent grammatical mistake I notice you making, overuse of a particular word, etc . . . It is not my intention to insult you or your work. I am not trying to deliberately tear you down, but if I see something that I think you can do better, I will tell you.
