Rules of Engagement
I accept all CC with open arms and with a grain of salt. Accepting it, instead of defending it. If I start to defend it, please tell me so, and I will apologize and recend everything I said.
I am not a person who cares much about grammar or the like. While I try to stay within the confines of grammar, try as I might, I usually don't. Feel free to point them out, but don't degrade me for them.
I am NOT trying to become a famous author, or even get anything published, I write for something to do on the side, and I write for me. Nothing more, nothing less. So don't expect me to force long chapters or change my style just for you, it won't happen. I like my style, I enjoy writing the way I write. Now, I'm not saying that if you want to edit my story and tell me what I should fix that you can't, just be tasteful.
Do not, and I repeat, do not ask for my honest opinion if you really don't want it. Don't ask if all you want is some compliments. If I like it, I like it; if I don't, I don't. End of story, no pun intended.
Don't revenge review. While this hasn't happend to me yet, at least I think it hasn't, this has happend to some writers I've seen on here. The reviewer gives an honest opinon, usually not in favor of the author, and said author goes and gives a bad review cause he/she is pissed. That's retarded.
And please, accept my review, don't argue it. If you all your going to do is argue that your right and I'm wrong, you really didn't want a honest review in the first place. I got no problem if you want to prove me wrong or trying to say that you disagree, and more than likely you will problably be right, but please if you chose to argue it, don't put it in my review, instead send me a pm, if that doesn't work send me an email. To argue your point inside a review just makes you look an elitest ass, and if you give CC on top of that, it will give the impression of revenge reviewing in the eyes of others. You don't what that.
Lastly, don't "knock" a style because its not your own. "Dogging" a style just because it isn't like yours in anyway, shape or form, is ignorant. Your not going to like everything, and everybody is not like you, we all have our preferences and favorites. That does not mean that you shouldn't give suggestions, if you do and the author responds with, "But that's my style," then drop it and leave it alone. I myself have gone to a story and said many a times that people give too much away in early chapters, but I also drop the subject as soon as one says "Hey, but that is what I was trying to accomplish," or, "I like writing that way," I understand and leave it be. I mean, I don't like pulp fiction style books, but I'm not going to knock them for doing that, they write the way they want and the way people who do read their stories like. Too often people become discouraged because someone else makes the notion that they shouldn't even be a writer based solely because that person decides to write some other way. So I didn't grab your attention, I might have grabbed someone else's, and those are who I write for. Because, let's face it, your only giving your opinion, and opinons are like gifts. When someone gives you one, it could be great or could be crappy, but most likely you've already got one just like it.
