Fanfiction is just what I like to do most, since I generally suck at making up involving characters and more importantly chracter names. (When I think of a story, the working names for the characters are always the same: Ryu, Murai, Orochimaru, Lucy, Lily.) My fanfiction is centered around love. I hardly have any exceptions, and usually I don't even start writing before I've figured out the pairing(s) I'm going to use in the story. I'm not the greatest writer out there, emphasizing too much on dialogue and too little on descriptions, both of the characters and the environment. In time, I hope I'll improve. I have a tendency to start writing a story and never finishing it, due to things coming up in real life or simply because I'm putting more energy into other things. My obsession with pairing-centered fics comes from real life. To me, love is the most important thing on this planet and my characters reflect that. (In my own insane way, that is.) Often love turns out to be the foil of the 'evil' in my stories. The fact that I have a girlfriend now kind of stops me from writing these days, but I intend to start again when she's away for the holidays. I love the darkness, but I am not gothic or emo. I just prefer the night over the day, and cold over heat. I like to be outside but I hardly am because I never know what the hell to do there. Sometimes I just sit outside gazing over the water, thinking. What I think about differs greatly, sometimes it's love, other times it's quantum physics. I'm serious. Since there's no one who truly understands quantum physics, thinking about it can't hurt, right? I suck at formulas. I have a profound hatred of formulas. I do not think in numbers, and I have no intention of ever doing so. You might think that's odd when thinking about friggin quantum physics, but theorizing does not require formulas, just straight thinking. Once the summer holidays are over, I'm starting on my first year of college, where I'll be studying Languages and Cultures of Japan. DEMON BLADE(Update 2): By now, I'm getting the feeling no one really cares anymore, but that might be better, considering what I'm about to say. After watching Excel Saga and subsequently Puni Puni Poemi (yeah, I'm a guy and I watched that, big deal) I've seen the light. I'm not going to fill a total of 52 chapters with Demon Blade, as I originally intended, but merely 26. This new feat comes on top of my previous adjustment to chapter length, meaning the full story is now cut short. Over the course of the story, chapter balance will be slightly off. I'm still aiming for merely three pages per chapter, but important chapters may well be beyond that. Also, the chapters that are already on the site were made with 52 chapters in mind, meaning that from now on, a lot of the bullshit you saw in those chapters will be completely gone. The main reason I'm doing this is that I'm completely stuck on bullshitting my way through chapters that have no real meaning. By cutting my total chapters in half, I can actually write what I want to write and you guys (well, assuming I still have any readers left) won't have to read copious amounts of crap. For anyone seeing this and planning to read Demon Blade (or is actually waiting for an update) I have a request. R&R Please! That's right. I want reviews, goddammit. If you read my story, or at least one or two chapters, please give me your opinion on it. If you like it, tell me what you like most and why. If you think it's shit, don't hesitate to tell me. I want to improve my writing and I really don't mind flaming, as long as you can give me a few reasons why you hate the story. I need constructive criticism people! Anyway, that concludes my rant on Demon Blade, I'm going to start writing some chapters again. Hope to hear from you if you read it, thanks anyway! (UPDATE 3) Yeah, just for the record. I'm back from the mists of time, sort of. I've decided that I'm going to rewrite Demon Blade in its entirety, although the Prologue will stay the same. The reason I'm doing this is that I'm sick of my own writing in the story so far. It's too immature, too superficial and too, well, confusing. It doesn't make sense to me, and if I, the writer, can't make sense of it the way I intend to, there's no way someone else can. This means that the story will be pulled and reupped in a different category, possibly with a lower rating. I've realized that harsh language is childish rather than mature. I hope my revisions will broaden my audience, and that I will get some reviews out of it. The story will be pulled once the first seven chapters have been rewritten, so I'll be able to update regulary. To those who've reviewed so far, thanks a whole lot. You were the ones who made me continue in the first place, and I'm sorry for letting you hang like this. To be perfectly clear: it won't be a story of epic length. The two arcs will be thirteen chapters each, with a chapter averaging at three pages. This is to keep the flow in the story. A chapter may have more pages, though, so a ten-paged chapter is possible, if very unlikely. Maybe rewriting what I have will give me the inspiration to continue this time, and maybe the new location will get me more reviews. Thanks for reading this rant, if you have. (UPDATE 4) Just a short word, the chapters up so far, i.e. 1 through 7 won't be rewritten altogether, but they will be edited, pretty heavily at times. I'll be a little more descriptive, or at least try to be, and the dialogue will be revised to make it seem more natural. If anyone has read chapter two, the dream scene will be gone completely, as it was merely there to lengthen the chapter. Another thing I mightremove or heavily edit is the overflowing river scene in chapter six, as it too wasn't really necessary. These two edits will probably be the most major, but minor edits along these lines will be present throughout the chapters uploaded so far to keep up the speed. I hope the story will be more interesting to read once these edits are complete, and that working on it will break my writer's block. My main problem was, and still is, filling up the chapters. I know the plot of both arcs, I know the way the characters develop, although in many cases the development will be expanded upon further into the story. The point is, with what I have I can fill only a few chapters. I've already cut the number of chapters by half, and the chapter length is only sixty percent of what it was, and I really don't want to shorten it any further. Right, with that out of the way, I'll get to editing. I'm almost spending more time updating my profile than actually doing something constructive. ~KatonRyu | |||||||
