To whomever this may concern- since you were kind enough to visit my profile, I'll fill you in. At the same time, I'll try and keep this short, because my life probably isn't all that interesting. If you want, you can skip down to my stories. Hopefully you'll like them, and maybe even leave a review.
My username is not my real name. However much I hope to one day meet and marry my own Mr Colin Firth Darcy, the fact remains that a) Mr Darcy is a fictional character, and b) Colin Firth is already married, and possibly old enough to be my father. Doesn't stop me dreaming, though. Or crushing on fictional characters.
I live in Australia, the country that is often put on the end of the entertainment list. I swear, we made 'Happy Feet' and Australia was the last country it came out in! 'Wicked' has been touring the world since '03, and yet not a single tour has come to Australia. Hmph. I could probably go on, but Australia's a great country and I love it, so what's the use in complaining?
There's not really that much to know about me, come to think of it...
I'm a 14 yr-old Christian, Chinese girl who's lived in Australia all her life with an older patronising but wonderful sister, her mum, and her dad. My parents are more interesting- Mum grew up during the Cultural Revolution in China and Dad lived through the anti-Chinese riots in Malaysia. However, this profile really isn't about them, it's about me. If you're interested in hearing my family history, send me a message and I can give you a detailed account, but now is really not the time.
One of the greatest loves of my life apart from God and daydreaming is writing, (hence my joining this site), and my heroes in the field are Margaret Atwood, Victor Hugo, J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, L. M. Montgomery and Jane Austen, the most perfect of all women writers. I started out on fanfiction.net (my username being Smoltenica), and I hope to one day make an authoress of myself, but I have a sneaking suspicion that my career field will end up in music. If that happened, I wouldn't complain.
Besides writing, music is my life. I love all types of music, the exceptions being rap, techno, and heavy metal. Certain types of music I love in particular- I love musical theatre, and soundtracks. The musicals I love to the point of obsession are Les Mis, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera and The Sound of Music. Soundtracks I go gaga at include Les Choristes, Amelie, Gladiator, Pride and Prejudice (1995), and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. As for musical artists, as long as the song is good, there's a high chance I'll enjoy it. That said, I love GooGoo Dolls, Evermore, Eskimo Joe, Death Cab for Cutie, Simon and Garfunkel, and Fleetwood Mac.
I guess you could say it's a pretty ecclectic range, if you add classical music into the mix. I suppose I could dedicate an entire paragraph as to why I love classical music- especially Baroque and Romantic music- but I don't think I will. It helps my world go 'round, though.
Someday, I hope to take music overseas, possibly to Europe, and I think my safest chance would be with the pipe organ. That is one fantastic instrument- I love performing and I love feeling powerful, and when I play the pipe organ, I get both of those. Score! I also learn the piano, and used to learn the violin and the clarinet. I quit clarinet after one year- I was the worst in the class- but stuck with violin for seven years, going as far as Grade 7 before realising that it really wasn't my instrument. Now I am left with five violins in the house (I didn't sell any), and, with my parents' help, am desperately trying to sell them all off. If any of you live in Sydney and are in need of an eight, quarter, half, three quarter or full size violin, send me an email! Please!
That's pretty much it for the moment.
Thanks for taking your time to read this! God bless!
