"Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it." -C.S. Lewis

"You're given the form, but you have to write the sonnet yourself. What you say is completely up to you." -Madeleine L'Engle, A Wrinkle in Time

Welcome to my profile, oh strange and wondrous mortal.

Anyway, the name's Sercus Kaynine because I'm creative like that, but most of the time I go by Sir. Generally a relaxed person. Mostly on top of things, but not a perfectionist. Freakishly independent, mildly impatient, honest to a fault, but usually kind. Class A dog-lover and wannabe traveler. Can never ask too many questions. Loves new ideas and warm drinks. Lives in the boring suburbs of a boring city in what has to be the most boring state in the entire U.S.A., and spends time wishing she lived somewhere more interesting such as New York City or along the coast of California.

As of January 5, 2009, I have been on this site for two very long years. Most of my work was written in that first year, so it's not Shakespeare, but hey, it's me. Don't try to make sense of my oneshots or poems- trust me, you won't get anywhere. Maybe one day I'll get comfortable enough with a longer story to post it on here, but alas, not today.

I have lots of books that I could call favorites, but it would take a long time to list them and that would get frightfully boring after a while.

To list a variety:
A Clockwork Orange
by Anthony Burgess
Survival of the Sickest
by Dr. Sharon Moalem
Elsewhere
by Gabrielle Zevin
Nation
by Terry Pratchett
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time
by Mark Haddon
Paper Towns
by John Green
Wicked by Gregory MaGuire
Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay
City of Thieves by David Benioff
and The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.

Favorite series include:
A Song of Ice and Fire (A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows) by George R.R. Martin
the Farseer Trilogy (Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assassin, Assassin's Quest) by Robin Hobb
the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer
the His Dark Materials Trilogy (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass) by Phillip Pullman.

There are also several authors and stories on FictionPress that have caught my eye. They can be found in the favorites tabs, of course.

Yes, I do realize I have tons of links on my profile, thank you very much.

Well, I won't keep you any longer. Feel free to poke around and read some of my work. Until I eventually post something new or decide to play around with my homepage a bit, I bid thee happy reading.

"There was an army of adults, whose motives and movements I just couldn't understand and who made no effort to understand mine." -Maya Angelou, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings

"Sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." -Lewis Carroll
