Hey everyone!

I'm just a student from the US and I love reading, listening to music and writing!

I try to read as much as I can, anything from real hardcore literature to new sci-fi/fantasy (like there's really a difference anyway!). I'm obsessed with Harry Potter and I love Jane Austen novels. My other favorite books are The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingslover, Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and the His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. I basically love anything that has good epic/historical/romantic/fantasy plot, or else genius writing.

Music-wise I jump around. I've recently fallen back into loving the Killers, and I'm getting really into the Bravery and the Kooks. Damien Rice, Iron and Wine and Ryan Adams satisfy my softer side, and I turn to Radiohead if I need something a little more different or crazy. My favorite band is the Decemberists, and if I ever feel like some good high school/teenage angst-y rockish-ness, lately I've been putting on Jimmy Eat World. I must say though, I do have a weakness for pop music these days, a side-effect of going to too many dance parties I think, and if I'm alone in the car I'm definitely going to blast some Beyonce or Rihanna.

I like to write sci-fi/fantasy stuff, though I always have lots of grand plots and plans, so completed projects are not likely to be seen here very often...I've never been a huge poetry person, but recently a friend of mine has been pushing me into it more.

More to come, maybe!

Here's a little poem I was looking at the other day. It's by my favorite poet and I think it's really cute:

Aedh Wishes for the Clothes of Heaven

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

-William Butler Yeats
