Author has written 1 story for Essay.

Name

Maddy. My username, Eos Erigeneia, is the name for the Greek goddess of Dawn, often described in common Homeric epithets as “rosy-fingered” and “bright-haired” (“as soon as Dawn appeared, fresh and rosy-fingered”, a quote from Homer’s The Odyssey).

Age

Immortal.

Country of Origin

If I could choose, the Vale of Aldur in David Eddings’ Belgariad, but in the sad reality of life, the good old land of the Brits.

Personality

I can be quite over the top and completely mental sometimes, but I think I am friendly and easy to talk to. I can be blunt sometimes, and I am a complete bossy cow at home!

Appearance

Oh, but of course, I am the most gorgeous person on this, or any other for that matter, planet! In truth, my name is Polgara the Sorceress, Duchess of Erat and the most beautiful woman in the world etc. etc. Sigh I wish. I have dark hair, like her, and blue eyes, but I don’t think I quite top the charts in the way that she does.

Interests (stuff that you are probably not interested in but I’m going to put here anyway whether you like it or not)

I play oboe and piano and I am also teaching myself to play some other instruments for fun, including the djembe (an African drum), the tin whistle, and the ukulele, but I haven’t got very far with them yet.

I am currently studying for my AS-levels and I am taking Chemistry, Maths, Spanish and Classical Civilisation, and I am also doing an AS in Latin over two years. My passion is the classical world and I really really want to learn as many ancient (and modern) languages as I possibly can, some examples being Ancient Greek, Ancient Persian and Ancient Egyptian. You can probably see why I chose that particular username now… I have also begun to invent my own language for a book that I am intending to write and it is huge fun, although it is going to be a lot of work and take up a lot of time which I don’t have at the moment.

Okay, enough with the boring, irrelevant stuff about me, on to my interests that actually have something to do with fanfiction, yay!

Favourite Authors (it’s quicker than typing out all the books)

I have always been an avid reader and been able to lose myself completely in a book. Reading is, by far, the best and most rewarding way of being lazy through leisure time in my opinion. I always feel guilty and that I should be doing some work when I sit down in front of the computer or television, but with reading I do feel that I am getting something out of it. Only problem is, I’ll say “just one chapter, then I’ll do some work”, and a few hours later, which one do you think I finished, the book or my homework? Hmmm…

They are all listed in alphabetical order by their surnames. This could take a while and I’ll have to keep updating because I’m sure to leave some out…

Douglas Adams, Joan Aiken, K. A. Applegate (I still need to read about half of the Animorphs books, but I can't find them anywhere!), Jean M. Auel, Jane Austen, Luis de Bernieres, Malorie Blackman, Frances Hodgson Burnett, David Clement-Davies, Eoin Colfer, Peter Dickinson, David Eddings, Euripides, Alan Garner, William Golding, Mark Haddon, Lian Hearn, Homer, Anthony Horowitz, Brian Jacques, Robin Jarvis, C. S. Lewis, Vann Martel, Frank McCourt, Cliff McNish, Mende Nazer, William Nicholson, Ovid, Terry Pratchett, Arthur Ransome, J. K. Rowling, Jonathon Stroud, J. R. R. Tolkien, Laurens Van der Post, Sylvia Waugh, Chris Wooding and Adeline Yen Mah

And here are some of my childhood favourites, which I admit that I still sometimes read. Yes, even Dr. Seuss’ Hop on Pop.

Helen Cresswell, Roald Dahl, Michael Morpurgo, Lynne Reid Banks, Dr. Seuss, Dick King Smith, Jacqueline Wilson, Also the Mrs Pepperpot series, but I can’t remember the author right now.

Favourite Films and TV Shows

Despite what I said about feeling guilty and completely brainless while watching the TV, I do still have my favourite films and shows (shamefaced).

Films

Bambi (and any other Disney film), Belville Rendezvous, Bend it Like Beckham, Bridget Jones, Dersu Uzala, Finding Nemo, Kevin's Guide to Being a Teenager, Lord of the Rings, Monty Python, Pirates of the Caribbean, Scary Movie, Scream (just for the sheer fakeness), Team America ! (Of course, my favourite all-time film), The Matrix and The Ring.

TV Shows

24, Blackadder, Dad's Army, Doctor Who, Extras, Fawlty Towers, Friends, Monty Python, The Goodies, The Simpsons, and Thunderbirds, purely because it reminds me of Team America , and then I realise that it isn’t deliberately bad puppeteering, it’s meant to be like that!

Other

If anyone is a fan of Cliff McNish's Doomspell trilogy, make a visit to the Doomspell Era at www.avidgamers.com/mre. It's an interactive site where you choose or invent a character and write as if you were in the story. My characters include Morpeth, Larpskendya (some of the time) and also a character named Taika Ojala whom I invented myself.

Note: I also have an account at fanfiction.net under the same username (Eos Erigeneia) for my fanfiction works.

I hope you will enjoy my stories when I get round to writing them.
