I've got the lyrics to Daft Punk's "Technologic" stuck in my head. I've been running up to total strangers around town, blurting out random lines. If you ever hear some wierdo Asian girl in a pair of black ballet slippers singing, "Write it, cut it, paste it, save it/load it, check it, quick—rewrite it," at the top of her lungs, congratulations. You've just met Mai the Jaded, the nerdy fourteen-year-old novelist of fictionpress.
Has it REALLY been a month and a half since I last updated? Sorry, sorry, muchos sorry. The next chapter should be out either late today or early tomorrow. Or maybe later this week. Or maybe next Wednesday, or Friday. I'm a terrible procrastinator.
I've actually got an excuse this week. I'm doing ballet again—with October coming, it was past time for a change. Samba is not fun in the winter, especially with the skimpy outfits I've got to wear. There's only one more dance to do publicly in a few weeks (which is strangely identical to the "Hip Hip Chin Chin" dance that was chroegraphed my Dimitri for So You Think You Can Dance season 3—hmm) and then I'm free. Still, switching styles is never easy. I've got to re-perfect my arabesue pirouettes and prepare for the winter recital, which is--surprise of surprises--The Nutcracker. Aargh to the twenty-fourth degree.
Okay...enough about me. Now for my literary projects.
For my new readers, Wicked has no one protagonist. It is story about a young woman who struggles to cope with the dark thing inside of her, and a story about a clever girl-child who walks in the rain and doesn't get wet, a witch who serves up redemption at her modern diner, a man who's innermost fear is the scent of roses. Wicked is not about one dark thing, but the many dark things that plague one town, and what those dark things attract.

My name is Mai, which means "dancer." Which, coincidentally, I am. I've been taking ballet since I was four, with the exception of a few breaks in when I was eight—I was going through my tomboy phase—and for a couple of months this year and last when I took samba lessons.
I am Japanese-American, born and raised here in America.
I'm a weirdo. I laugh during "scary" movies, and I love spiders and snakes. I'm utterly frightened of clowns. (Don't ask.)
I do savate—the French martial art—and yoga. I also do a bit of budoku and judo, but only when I'm extremly bored.
I'm a music fanatic. I play a little bit of accoutic guitar--mostly chords and simple melodies--but seriously rock on the drums. I also play loads of classical and jazz on tthe piano. In the school band, I play the sax. I am a total band geek.
Clinical depression runs in the family.
Magic tricks fascinate me, and I am an expert at card macination. Nobody around here plays blackjack/poker/go fish with me anymore, because I always win.
I write poetry, songs, short stories, and novels. I also practice photography and digital art, and do some pecil sketches when I'm bored. Hardly ny of my stuff gets published.
English is my third language. Japanese is my first, Cambodian my second.
