HOORAY! NaNo time!

"Dance, puppetboy, if you do a good job
Then they'll want you again, give it all that you got
Show them the joy and the pain and the ending
And then do it again and we'll all start pretending
To pay more attention to what's aforementioned
And you bob your head 'cause you're not even listening.
A very small few of you even get meanings
But laugh, clownboy, laugh 'cause it's always so pleasing..."

Born: 1988

Location: California

Occupation: Student/barista/B&N bookseller/anything I can get my hands on that pays and doesn't make me want to shoot myself.

School: UCLA (College is why there are long periods when I don't update)

On Myself: I was on FPC for a long time before under another penname (no, you cannot know who it was. I was young and stupid, I'm trying to start over with a certain level of maturity. Honest). I'm doing a rewrite of one of the stories on that account, so if it looks familiar, know that I am not a thief.

For the moment, Neil Gaiman has my deepest, utmost respect and is the standard I try desperately to meet.

I mostly write high/epic or dark fantasy, but have been known to venture into pure horror/supernatural, science-fiction, and, rarely, young adult. I am, above all, a writer and lover of speculative fiction.

Other than that... I like music, reading, writing, taekwondo, horseback riding, rock climbing, and linguistics. I also really, really love editing, when I have the time.

On Reviewing: Constructive criticism is appreciated (and sometimes demanded), flamers will be shot because nothing useful ever comes out of a flame. If you leave me a decent review, I will try to do the same for you, but understand my time is limited, and I'd rather be writing. If you come here with a "OMG! cOoL StOrY, plz R&R mine, kthnxbai!" - NO.

If you have trouble with constructive criticism, simply try to answer one of these questions: What do you particularly like/dislike? Do you see anything that sounds awkward or is grammatically incorrect? Or, my four biggest problem points: Is an area rushed / confusing / bad dialogue / not enough description?

On clichés and my stories: Yes, I have 'em. Sometimes deliberately. But then, who doesn't now? However, there's one that seems to be everyone's pet peeve: apostrophes in fantasy names and languages. Let me state this in advance. If you see an apostrophe, it has a linguistic purpose. I don't throw them around for shits and giggles. Feel free to point out any cliché but this one.

Current Projects: (see summaries under "Stories Authored")

The Wizard's Game - Sword & Sorcery. Here we have action, with plot sacrificed to keep everything moving. This is NaNo project 2008. I figure if I post while I'm going along, I have a better motivation to hit the word count. Expect unedited crap, please. The roughest rough draft you ever did see.

Design - Epic Fantasy of the sort with good guys fighting bad guys and gods who like to meddle in people's lives. Includes: elemental magic, demons, elves, good guys doing good things out of guilt or moral obligation, bad guys taking over worlds because they want to, and general epicness. Also, some clichés. Posting comes as I write chapters.

Blood Moon Rising - Dark fantasy, with werewolves, vampires, bad guys with reasons for their badness, and some moral grey areas. I once called it my attempt to bring the werewolf/vampire story back into an old world setting (take that, urban fantasy!). Has horror elements in some of the descriptions and overall tone and a great cast of dysfunctional characters. Posting will come as soon as the story is complete, in hopes that I can do weekly updates - eventually.

Author Status: Mostly absent from the site, except for occasional reviews to WIPs I've been reading. Working slowly, but diligently on BMR.
