Author has written 10 stories for General, and Life.

I live in Johannesburg, South Africa in a small town named, you guessed it, Benoni. Writing is what I do to keep me alive. I also find myself working a regular job to keep me able to do what I love doing. Sound familiar? I steal away from family and friends for a few hours each day to read other people's writing and to write some of my own. While I do this I listen to some of my favourite bands and musicians including: Pink Floyd, Beck, The Cardigans, Aimee Mann, Laura Pausini, Neil Young, Gomez, the Arctic Monkeys and chilled Brazilian lounge music, to name a handful.

Writing is weird - it's something that people do every day in their business lives, and it is how we communicate. At some level it gets elevated to an art form and appreciated - not sure where and when this happens, but it does ,which is wonderful. Good writing speaks to me on the same level as great music, good films or good tv. It's art through symbols.

Good films I enjoy are:

Sympathy for Lady Vengeance.
Ghost in the Shell.
Fargo.
The Big Lebowski.

And a host of others. Rule of thumb - if it sells well in Hollywood, beware (anything with Keanu Reeves or Colin Farrel in it is a dead giveaway...avoid or face the deadly tongue of John Cleese in his diatribe on Americans...)

OK, so I ramble on sometimes. Keep enjoying good writing, I'm sure you'll find tons of it on this site - see my favorites for clues.

Later,

Tony
