Author has written 1 story for Fantasy. Hello everyone! My name is Aino and I'm a 22-year-old student from Finland. I love reading and writing, though lately I haven't been writing that much. Here on FictionPress I will only post stories that I'm fairly confident I won't leave unfinished, hence only one ongoing story for the moment. I've been publishing fanfiction over at FanFiction.net, but the stories I have up there are mostly very old and only a couple of them match my current standards - guess I'm keeping the crappier ones up out of nostalgia or something, some of them used to be fairly popular within their fandom. Like I already mentioned, I read a lot, and certain books/series by certain awesome authors have had a heavy influence on my writing. Currently I'm re-reading Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Eriskon - probably the best work of fantasy fiction I've ever read, and I can only bow down before his writing style, such realistic description of medieval-ish warfare and plotline of such grand scale, it's like reading about a world every bit as real as our own. Another all-time favorite that I love just as much as MBotF, is the Coldfire Trilogy by C.S. Friedman - Gerald Tarrant and Damien Vryce are both awesome characters and Ms Friedman writes such beautifully emotional text that she had me in tears more than once especially during the last book. And there's more... Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever, by Stephen R. Donaldson; Tears of Artamon trilogy, by Sarah Ash; Count of Monte-Cristo, and the Three Musketeers, by Alexandre Dumas; Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, by Jules Verne - Captain Nemo surely is the grandfather of all cool, mysterious, tragic characters out there. I guess Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time, Dragonlance, Harry Potter, Forgotten Realms, and such series deserve a mention as well, since they are where I started reading even if I've since moved on. I still intend to finish reading Wheel of Time if it ever gets finished, with Mr Jordan dead and all... Some part of me is still in love with Mazrim Taim. Anyways, a few words about my stories (yes, I know there's only one at the moment). Lord of the Dawn: This story has been in my head for closer to four years, and I have the basic storyline pretty clear in my mind. All that's left now is to actually write it. Reviews give me extra motivation to do that, and can make me give you new chapters faster. But, I'm writing for the sake of myself, not anyone else, so the story will be written fully - in time - whether anyone here reads it or not. It also has two sequels half-planned already, but more about those after the first part is finished. | |||||||
