Author has written 25 stories for General, Romance, Action, Horror, Spiritual, Politics, Fable, Fantasy, General, Supernatural, and Love. "Writing is the only thing that, when I do it, I don't feel I should be doing something else." Gloria Steinem There is a pleasure sure Hi everyone reading this :) I have to admit, my best things aren't going to be posted up here. I have several projects I'm working on that won't ever reach cyberspace, just because I'm afraid it may hurt the chance of them being published. And because they are my babies, I hold them very dear to my heart and I don't think they are quite ready for the world to see, until they are polished to perfection. Speaking of writing, I do have an account on http://www.fanfiction.net , as freak.on.a.leash13. I know a lot of people hate fanfiction, but I think it can help you grow as a writer, it sort of gives that security that you are using someone elses characters. I think it helps build up confidence to be your own writer, to do your own thing. Not to mention the author who wrote must think its pretty sweet that someone would write fanfiction on their work. I mean, I would think it was pretty cool people liked something I wrote enough to write about it themselves. Most of what I write will be fantasy or supernatural type things, probably with some romance added in. As much as I hate romance, it does seem to be popular and I guess it is as natural as any other relationship between characters, though I tend to focus more on the friendship between my characters rather than the romances. Please don't flame. I don't mean just me but anyone. Everyone here is talented in her or his own way (though some probably not as writers, but they'll discover that all on their own in time.) It's just not nice to do to someone, I mean you wouldn't want it done to you right? Constructive critisicm is cool, but flaming is not. Stuff I'm Writing: Zingo: When Laura’s twin sister Sara is placed in a mental institution just weeks after their high school graduation, muttering strange talk about the imaginary world they created as children, Laura is desperate to find a way to save her. After hearing Sara say the only way to save her is to go to that world, she is desperate enough to try it and ends up in a land beyond all imagination, ruled by an evil king, who is the key to saving Sara. She makes a deal with the King to retrieve the crown, the thing that grants its wearer the ultimate power in this land from the Zingo, a mythical magical creature that guards it and bring it to the king, to trade for her sisters freedom. Only no one has ever lived facing the zingo and the King is not the only one who wants to crown. Soon, Laura finds herself caught in dangerous game between feuding monarchs who both want not only the crown but her and Sara as well. This story is a fantasy/adventure story, but it has some other elements as well. There's political unrest and drama, there's friendship and sisterlyness (not a real word, I know) and there is a little bit of romance, but it is between side characters and not all that central to the plot. That being said, it does not get a lot of focus. It's written in third person, and shows both the protaginist Laura and the antagonist Zarek almost equally. It is my favorite thing I'm writing at the moment. Phantasm: Izzy's uncle Stephen makes a deal with Kiros, king of the Shadow Realm to trade her to him on her sixteenth birthday in exchange for saving Stephen's daughter Beth's life. Once there, Izzy learns that she and her family are part of a prophocy to return light to the Shadow Realm. Unfortunately to do that she has to marry Kiros. Izzy isn't willing to do that and Kiros's closest allies may be scheming against him. This is sort of a fantasy/romance thing, where the leading man is more of a villain and the heroine is paired with him. I personally like my side characters better than my leading characters, Kiros's sister Sophia is my favorite. This one is proving difficult to write, but it will be updated soon. Eros: Ashton and his friends have a dark secret and Vanessa, a girl Ashton had a brief summer fling with comes close to his secret. Eventually her and her friends discover it only to learn that they are all in danger. I can't really say what that secret is, because I don't want to spoil it for anyone who may want to read it. I will say this started out as a sort of modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast, but it has taken a life of its own. When I first wrote it, I thought it was original, but now I see it is a little cliche. The people reading it seem to like it though, and some things are made cliches because people like them. I think it could probably use a good tweeking, but I'll finish it first. The Tallest Tower: This is my take on the whole princess locked in a tower sort of fairy tale. In this the person taking the princess has a legitimate reason, the princess is more than just a damsel in distress and her Prince Charming who vows to save her may or may not be her true love. I'm really trying to give a new twist on the cliche characters and develop a good backstory, as well as having these characters expand and grow. Of course, since it is a fairy tale, it's a romance. Most of the things that are complete are one shots or poems I'm too sentimental to take down. I don't really like them now, but deleting them feels like erasing part of myself. It's weird, I know, but everything I write feels like I've put this tiny bit of myself in, a little bit of my imagination. It may not be particulary good, but it still feels like a tiny piece of me dies when I get rid of it. | |||||||||
