Hello and welcome!
I am sixteen and live in Taiwan, though I'm actually half-Swiss, half-South African. I have been writing for more than ten years, mostly fantasy, futuristic, or - when I was younger - animal stories. I usually bring themes into my stories which I think about a lot, like poverty, racism, environment problems, forgiveness, etc. I actually use writing mostly to explore questions and try to find the answers by thinking about how they affect people, what different people think about them, and why.
I really like doing Literature in school, and my favourite books are mostly from the 19th Century or Romantic Era. I don't really read much published fantasy, strangely enough, even though I love writing it. My favourite fantasy books are The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. My book taste overall is actually for books with meaning, or that make me think. Same with movies, which is why I prefer sad movies to teenage comedies.
Other than that, I love learning languages and am planning to study Theology to become a pastor or missionary - or both : ). I find that nowadays Christianity as a whole is greatly misunderstood, mainly because of mistakes done in the past and even today by people who loudly proclaim their faith while doing the opposite to what the Bible says. Christians have done terrible things, like the Crusades, which in our faith is actually wrong. Christianity is about the love of God, not about killing people or suppressing them with rules - in fact, I noticed that every single law in the Bible has a very good reason, going for the prevention of violence, hate, unhappiness, etc. I have people in school asking me why Christians should "turn the other cheek". Some people think that forgiving your enemy and not returning violence to violence is stupid - but if we all stopped revenge, wouldn't there not be any enemies???
Okay, I'm starting to ramble... :P If you have anything to say or ask on that, though, I love discussing this topic. : )
Other random infos on me... I'm a pacifist; I like knitting and embroidery; I love mountains and the smell of rain (told you it was random :P); I like Chinese and Italian even though I can never seem to learn them; my favourite subjects are History, German and English; me and telephones don't get along; I am bad at making decisions; I can't answer any question with just 'yes' or 'no'; my favourite colour is green; and I like doing crafts, especially jewellery and book-binding (though the latter needs working on).
