Memorable Quotes I Quite Simply Adore: There will be other lives. There will be other lives for nervous boys with sweaty palms, for bittersweet fumblings in the backseats of cars, for caps and gowns in royal blue and crimson, for mothers clasping pretty pearl necklaces around daughters' unlined necks, for your full name read aloud in an auditorium, for brand-new suitcases transporting you to strange new people in strange new lands. And there will be other lives for unpaid debts, for one-night stands, for Prague and for Paris, for painful shoes with pointy toes, for indecisions and revisions. And there will be other lives for father walking daughters down aisles. And there will be other lives for sweet babies with skin like milk And there will be other lives for a man you don't recognize, for a face in a mirror that is no longer yours, for the funerals of intimates, for shrinking, for teeth that fall out, for hair on your chin, for forgetting everything. Everything. Oh, there are so many lives. how we wish we could live them concurrently instead of one by one. We could select the best pieces of each, stringing them together like a strand of pearls. But that's not how it works. a human's life is a beautiful mess.” -Elsewhere, by Gabrielle Zevin "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows "Everything''s more beautiful because we're doomed." Achilles, from the movie Troy Do I dare disturb the universe? In a minute there is time for decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse...Should I, after tea and cakes and ices, have the strength to force the moment to its crisis?...And would it have been worth it, after all, after the cups, the marmalade, the tea, among the porcelain, among some talk of you and me, Would it have been worth while?" The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, T.S. Eliot "...we don't live in a single song. We move from song to song, from lyric to lyric, from chord to chord. There is no ending here. It's an infinite playlist...We are the ones who take this thing called music and line it up with this thing called time. We are the ticking, we are the pulsing, we are underneath every part of this movement. And by making the movement our own, we are rendering it timeless. There is no audience. There are no instruments. There are only bodies and thoughts and murmurs and looks. It's the concert rush to end all concert rushes, because this is what matters. When the heart races, this is what it's racing towards." Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist Favorite Things: black and white photos. vivid dreams. friends who care. nature. skylines. piano. boys who smell good. techno music. pachabel's canon. writing. grey's anatomy. vegetarian food. hugs. political debates. late night conversations. chocolate. musicals. philosophy that makes your mind spin. the piers, marshes, beaches, and sam's corner of garden city, south carolina. amusement parks. the smell of fierce. stars. palm trees. balconies and treehouses. xylophones. go carts. feeling sand between your toes. laughing until your face hurts. dancing in the rain. old photo albums. harry potter. the ocean. and you, maybe. You might find them corny, I see them as catchy. The majority of them have to do with love/angst, but there might be some other stuff hidden in there somewhere.=) The Last Affair of Niko and Evie: a short story about a couple who has three days before Evie has to spend possibly the rest of her life in the hospital. It's kind of a maverick story, i guess, because of the age of the characters, but i like to see it in a notebook kinda way. =) This is kind of on hiatus until I figure out where I want this to go. 1 AM: a collection of poetry. These poems may date back to a while, so depending on the poem, it may represent a different time in my life. Goodbye: short story on saying goodbye to a friend. The Night Starts Here: A girl is forced to choose between the easy way or the hard way to reach her goals. Night: Ellie, a teen with an active imagination, hears the proverbial bump in the night, and her imagination runs wild. Alone on a Crowded Pier: short story on a teenager who had just graduated and the realization of life hits her. PS. friending is nice. but reviewing is better. =) | |||||
