"Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember, from time to time, that nothing worth knowing can be taught."

-Oscar Wilde

Who Am I?

What label can I use?

Am I preppy, or goth, or happy, or tormented?

Am I broken or strong, or miserable?

Am I a wannabe, a leader or a follower?

Do I march to my own drum, or hope someone else plays my tune?

Am I really me, or am I a poet who wants to be someone else?

Am I cliche?

Am I different?

Am I unique?

Am I normal?

Will I do extraordinary things?

Will I blend into the background?

I am strong.

I am happy.

I am sad.

I am unconquerable.

I am cool.

I am special.

I hope. I dream. I live. I love. I cry. I laugh.

I am who I am. I won’t say "can’t." I won’t say "never."

Will you ever know me?

Can you look into my soul?

Can you reach into the depths of my mind?

Can you see the stars burning brightly in my thoughts?

Will I let you?

We’ll see.

Well, I see you've stumbled upon my modest profile. So, greetings. Salutations. I welcome you, shake you warmly by the hand, and offer you a seat. Sit back, relax, enjoy. And while you're at it, get to know me a little better.

Likes: Reading, writing, reading, 1984, Oscar Wilde, reading, Poe, reading, Charles Ludridge Dodgson, reading, chess, reading, poetry, reading, fencing/swordfighting, anything medieval, anything concernig pirates, fantasy, Ray Bradbury, reading, The Clash, the Beatles, and did I say reading?

Dislikes: Pop, rap, mainstream, perkiness in the morning, squirrels, rap, ignorance, intolerance, rap, subcultures that become cultures, rap, anything that damages the environment, romance and did I say rap?

As you can see, I enjoy culture and solitude. I'd rather live in a stormy, gothic, victorian castle, writing stories by candlelight than driving Hummers around California and thinking I'm cool. I'm more Emily Dickinson than James Patterson. I like real people, not phonies and wannabes. So, please, if you are one, don't waste my time.

I mostly write poetry, angsty stuff, some creepily morbid. But other times... I let a glimmer of hope shine through, and let the simple pleasure of fantasy and dreams take wing within the comfort of my words.

Are you prepared to travel to the haunted depths of the coldest region of all: your own mind? Are you ready to stare at your cracked and haunted features in the facets of a broken mirror? Are you willing to take on the truth head-on... and possibly lose? Are you willing to have your faith shaken, and to stop believing in the goodness of humanity?

Then I welcome you.

But you have been warned.

That's it for now. I will be updating, never fear. Until then,

-CH

A Note on my Muses

Oh, I'm a bit scared for you people. But I need witnesses, in case one of my two muses attacks me. In fact, let's meet her:

Riy: A strange and wicked girl. She isn't evil, though she definitely IS a bit of an evil-genius. She lives in darkness and fires, and he dream is to be overlord of a world gone up in a firey inferno. She provides all the criticism of my work, and thinks I'm a complete dolt. She provides the angst and sadness of a story (like Tenebrosity). You can't hug her, or she WILL try to kill you.

Davey: A cheery, sunny lad. He provides comfort and hapiness, and basically everything Riy doens't. He always has a nice word of encouragement. He makes things work out in the end, with nice-ness all around. He's very huggable! But so far, he himself hasn't been responsible for any one piece of writing.

Davey and Riy have written two things together: "The Sweet Deluge" and "Champagne." Those come out bittersweet. Lately, I've been trying to get Davey himself to write something, but to no avail. I do like their team efforts, however.

Be warned, Riy wrote the next installment of Tenebrosity, and it is more-or-less her dreamscape (entitled Nightmare).

Story Update

7.13.07

Happy Friday the Thirteenth, everyone! And happy new story to me! I've finally gotten around to start writing my new story "Arabesque," and boy am I excited! A few things to know, first (ooh, a beind-the-scenes peak!)

-Yes, it DOES belong in the "Supernatural" category (this will become relevant in later chapters).

-My two muses (Riy and Davey) have taken to, erm... gang fighting lately (that's the best way I can describe it), and Riy basically put Davey in a coma. That is why the exposition (in Chapter One) of the first character is so incredibly short.

8.27.07

Dang, is it really the end of August? I still didn't finish my work for AP Global...

Well, Davey is out of his coma (and I have banned mental gang fights for now) and has grudgingly worked with Riy to create the next installment of Tenebrosity (Brave and Wondrous Death). It's like a world of shadows and darkness written from the light. Very weird, Lewis-Carroll-esque poem, but I like it. :) The one I will post after this (Peace) is very deceptive. Don't let the title fool you, it is ALL Riy.

About Arabesque- Since I've been on vacation and stressed about the return to school, I haven't had much time to think about it. Once I return and my life gets a routine again, I'll work on it more. But it's going into a bit of a hiatus until September. I will not abandon it, I love it too much and I have way too many ideas. Plus, we didn't even get to the good part yet. :) Davey might write a whole passage by himself! But on the other hand, Riy may get a chapter... or two... or five... So I just have to plan it out, and get the plot events in order. It won't be too long, promise!

10.2.07

Gah, is it really October? I'm so sorry for the lack of updating!! But I do have an announcement. Most of my stuff (Orignial Fiction) is going on my Deviantart account (www. carroll-grimm . deviantart . com, just w/o the spaces). I made the switch mainly 'cuz it uploads faster.

No, I am not abandoning my stories. Arabesque is being written (If you'd like a rough copy of my notes/chaps, cuz it WILL be a long wait, PM or email me), and I have spinoofs/oneshots planned/posted on DA.

I also have a series called Facets, unrelated one-shots about all the aspects of love (ALL ALL ALL of them) of which, three I think are posted.

Tenebrosity will be updated shortly, like today or tomorrow or whatever.

And now, for a muse update:

Ugh, Riy is taking over, seriously. Davey got his first whole pure story (Facets: Strange and New), and he has come to a truce with Riy. Or a cease-fire at the least. They are collaborating on a story called Nightengale (Original version will most likely be posted here after it's done), a (HUGELY DIFFERENT) spin on Romeo and Juliet. The summary is this:

Throught the course of history,
the story is the same.
Two households fighting bitterly,
the cause remains unnamed.
When children of these households meet
their courtship must turn tragic...
but what if all played differently
through literary magic?

There, you get the gist. :)

That's all for now, I will be updating some stories, with some notes on progress, etc, but right now is a pretty bad time, the end of October will be much better. Sorry... :(

11.30.07

It's the last day of November. IT IS THE LAST DAY OF NOVEMBER. How. HOWWWW????????????? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE???????????????????????????/

Sighs Okay, updates. Yes, i'm alive. Innundated with work until... tuesday...? Yeah, Tuesday. Keep your peepers open for the next installment of Arabesque, and (drumroll) The HAPPY POETRY! Yeah! I won't tell you the title yet, but for those who liked 'tenebrosity'... hehheh.

Alrighty then, let's see. Davey has written a poem! Yeah! It's not the best, but it's nice. and there are two! loves davey He's so sweet.

RIY on the other hand is furious. She's changed her name to Riyz (Raze, as in, destory) and is not bent on world domination. sigh again

Okay, chickes, time for this angst-bot to hight tail it outta here.

see ya!
