I’m on this site due to my sister’s positive review of it. Please visit her: empath89
I think critiques are extremely important to a person’s development as an artist. I encourage anyone who reads my work to comment on both what you find positive in my writing and where you think improvements can be made. Please be respectful and don’t just bash my work if you don’t like it, but don’t be shy. I need to know what I’m doing wrong so I can fix the problem areas.
I started writing Rook in my junior year of high school and have finished my personal editing phase of it. I have had 5 people read and help me edit it. I do hope to publish Rook, and want it to be in the best condition it possibly can be for this endeavour. I will take all suggestions seriously and will respond to all comments. If you have any information on publishers or agents PLEASE tell me. The internet is so unhelpful.
Without giving too much away, because that would ruin the mystery behind Rook, I’ll try to give as best an overview as possible. This book covers the journey of a boy, Rook, who is 12 years old and has amnesia (or so he thinks). He has been adopted, and when a strange and unfamiliar creature washes up on the shore of his village Rook’s life turns upside-down. Rook follows a recurring dream, but to what end?
As of June 24, 2008 I have removed Rook and will be replacing it with its most updated version. (Chapters 1-11 out of 17 are up!) As I get more views (so i know people are reading it and there's a point to updating) more chapters will be posted. If I find there’s no interest in this work, though, I’ll stop updating… so if you want to know what happens you have to tell me you’re interested. =D Do note that I will NOT post the last two chapters. x.x Though I doubt this is good enough to steal I don't want to take any chances.
For a better understanding of the setting and Gods in the world of Rook do read the Creation Myth. It's in poem form and acts as the prologue. You don't need to read it to understand Rook, but it should be a fun read anyway =)
I will also be posting Irea. (Chapters 1-7 are up!) This is the second book in the series. It's considerably more mature and, perhaps, realistic in the attitudes of characters and the events. Still fiction! Irea is an Angel who's views about her people are, let's just say, not the most positive. For her traitorous thoughts, she is sent to a school for girls where she is to train to become a member of the Moon Guard. Her goal: To reach the highest post possible so as to bring peace between the Angels and Demons.
Also comming up are my poems!! Yes, oh so exciting. 10 are up, more on their way.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank empath89, Koki Enwai, and Twilyt for your support on Rook. Thanks so much you guys.
If I start reviewing one of your works I will continue to do so until I'm done. I promise. Just be patient with me because I'm a very slow reader and have to put a bit of time into editing. I hate leaving off a chapter unfinished. If you want me to look over something feel free to ask. I'll get to it as soon as possible.
Hopefully, I'll be active here during the summer! Weeee!!
