| Elphaba The Wicked Witch |
Author has written 9 stories for Fantasy, Young Adult, Kids, General, General, and Friendship. Name: You can call me Elphaba or Elphie, but that isn't my real name. Birthday: Pearl Harbor Day Location: "So if you care to find me, look to the western skies. As someone told me lately, everyone deserves a chance to fly." About me: I am a young teenage writer. I write whatever the hell comes to mind, which is usually realistic teen fiction unless it's assigned writing. I write to get inside a character's head. (I'm saying that because a lot of people write for different things: world building, story telling, et cetera.) I really enjoy trying to picture a character's pain, whether it be frustration, annoyance, extreme physical pain or grief. Ever since I was a little kid, I've experimented with different scenarios that characters can be put into while playing games with neighborhood kids, and, to as deep of an extent as I could, I would embody the emotions the scenario ensued. It never occurred to me, until fifth grade, that I could put these things down on paper. In fifth grade, about 2005, after the huge tsunami in south east Asia struck, I had aspirations to write something about tsunami victims, but I never did until I found an article in People Magazine about how children victims were receiving art therapy. This article really struck a chord with me because it wasn't putting out statistics of how many people died or how many people were displaced. It put names to the statistics heard on the news every day. It put lives to the pictures of people. It wasn't one of those, 'Today, this happened' with no emotion at all. That day, I started writing my first 'big project.' (It was probably about 2,000 words which was, at the time, HUGE.) Two weeks later, I had a completed rough draft in my hands. I've been hooked on--no, addicted to--writing ever since. I absolutely love reading Shakespeare. I don't find it very confusing to read anymore, but that's only because I have/had (not sure which one because I'm hoping to get him again next year for Sophomore Accelerated English) an amazing English teacher. Dicere in Latina sermoni amo. Consientia sum illud Latina inrita lingua est sed Latinam adhuc amo. (Translation: I like to speak Latin. I know that Latin is a useless language, but I still love it.) I play violin... and I think that's all you need to know about me. www.scalzi.com/whatever/004175.html Click it. Read it. Better believe it. My philosophy: Anything you do is worth doing, as long as it doesn't cause permanent damage. It'll provide writing inspiration. ;) If you review me, I will try to review you if you have posted work and if whatever you post interests me. I just have to say that the two most amazing people ever are Ms. Wasson and Mr. Peterson. I know neither of you will probably ever read this, but Ms. Wasson, you have done so much for me, my writing and my school work. If I wasn't in your class for three years, I definitely wouldn't be the person I am today. I wouldn't have as much care for the world around me. I wouldn't be as opinionated as I am. We both know I definitelywouldn't be as organized as I am right now and I definitely wouldn't have any tolerance for people who just don't care. If I wasn't in your class, I definitely wouldn't have been in an environment where I could rant about my writing to random people, share racy scenes with classmates, even write at all, or just be myself. I love you so much, Wasson. And Peterson, you're amazing for 'breaking the fourth wall' while teaching. Not a lot of teachers do that (Wasson did, and no other teacher I've had has.) I don't think I would have passed second semester of freshman year if it wasn't for your teaching style that showed us you actually cared a third of the class was failing. You're amazing! Stories I'm working on right now (not necesarily posted on fictionpress): If God is So Great: Adina Anglicus was born and raised in a Catholic family. Her mom carries a pocket sized bible in her purse wherever she goes. Her dad has Genesis memorized. Her sister, Eden, is the seven-year-old religion police. Everyone believes furtively in Catholicism except for Adina, who has questioned god since she was very young. If God is so great, why'd he kill Grandma? So when Adina gets expelled from St. Joseph's Day School, she's more than happy to go to Hawthorne High School, where she develops a social life for the first time ever. As the year progresses, Adina must struggle to balance her social life, her unwanted boyfriend and her family of Jesus Freaks. But when things turn upside down Adina realizes that religion isn’t as anal as she thought it was and, eventually, regains her mother’s trust. Status: Third draft... Will seek out beta readers after this draft. I don't plan on ever posting it but I'm thinking about shopping it around and getting an agent for it to see if I can get published. (If I can't, no big deal. I'm only fifteen. I have my entire life ahead of me to get something published.) Dillon (the unofficial sequel to If God Is So Great. Title pending.): Dillon has always felt like he's inadequate to his closest friends: Desmond, Junie, Lola and Adina. On the surface, it doesn't seem like he should: he's funny, he has a great group of friends and, not to mention, is a prodigy clarinetist, principal of the section in the top youth orchestra in the city. But while they boast significant others and crushes, Dillon hides his biggest secret: that he's gay and has been in love with Desmond since he met him. Worried that his peers will ridicule him with insults and homophobic remarks, Dillon has remained in the closet for years. But when Desmond finally gets the girl of his dreams, Dillon drunkenly rapes his close friend, Adina Anglicus, the only other person who knows his secret. The next morning, after he sobers up, he realizes what he did was wrong, and that his secret is out. With most of his friends rightfully taking the side of Adina, Dillon is left alone, in the cold, with no one to support him. He just wants to forget about the rape and move on with his life but he just can't. Whenever he's with his friends, it seems like there's always something that they want to talk about but no one's willing to bring up the subject. The fact that he hallucinates Adina's presence where ever he goes isn't helping him forget. Status: Very rough draft. Unlike If God is So Great, I'm probably not going to try to publish this one because of its controversial nature. Yeah, don't you love censorship? I-12 Something strange is happening with reality. When Iris, Mell, Chris, Dixie and at least eight other teenagers went to bed that night, they didn't expect to awaken in any place peculiar. But that's exactly what happened. Twelve teenagers wake up and find themselves on a desert island with no clues of how they got there. There is no shipwreck. There are no remains of a crashed plain. There isn't even a memory of how they got there. Soon, it becomes an accepted fact that they're never going to find out how they got there. But none of them suspect they could be living in a synthetic reality... Status: Eh... I wrote this about a year ago so it's not very good compared to my more recent stories. (It's not very good at all, actually.) I'm not editing it anymore, just posting it whenever I feel like it, which isn't very frequently. Alice and Emma (working title) Alice reminisces on the past year of her life, and her friendship with Emma (and where it's going). Status: Sort of on hiatus. It's a one shot. It's kind of based on the past year of my life with one of my close-ish friends and how I have doubts about where our friendship will be next. | |||||||||||
