Hola, I am Kate.
I'm 17 years old and live in a small, rather pathetic town in the Northeast. I'm a junior in high school, hoping to attend Northeastern for journalism/business. My aspiration for life is to 1.) become the new Roger Ebert of movie critics and 2.) write one of those books that changes peoples lives, becomes a blockbuster movie and wins all those awards we all love to hate. As of right now, I am an intern at the Reminder Publications, which is a newspaper that caters to news in five districts. I've been friends with the same girl since we were in diapers, and I've been called neurotic more than once.
I also have the single best beta ever, who's name (on fictionpress) is midnight beauty. She's got some stories up on this site that deserves some attention. Go check her outtttt =)
I have a tendency to write girls as either bitchy and conniving, or incredibly smart, independent and with a fierce tongue. My favorite story that I've written is Our Room (closely followed by The Thin Line) and my all time favorite character to have written is Belle James, from Our Room. I would definitely say she's the most like me. I believe that love/hate relationships are the only way to go. There is a thin line between love and hate. Those couples seem to have the most passion and are the closest. Honestly, if you don't fight with your significant others, you don't have a relationship.
Anyway, check out some of my work!
Hopefully this works! Here is the link to find the character's picture from each story. I really hope this works!

"At times the world can seem an unfriendly and sinister place. But believe us when we say there is much more good in it than bad. All you have to do is look hard enough. And what might seem to be a series of unfortunate events, may in fact, be the first steps of a journey." -- Violet, A Series of Unfortunate Events
"Well, my conclusion is: Hate is baggage. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time." -- Danny, American History X
"Evil is a point of view. God kills indiscriminately and so shall we. For no creatures under God are as we are, none so like him as ourselves." -- Lestat, Interview with the Vampire
"When you are young not much matters, when you find something you like that's all you got." -- Telly, Kids
"So... I do know what it's like, Augusten... to love somebody who doesn't deserve it." -- Natalie, Running with Scissors
"It happened. There's no avoiding it. No forgetting." -- Melinda, Speak
You know, I mean, I didn't do you any favours on that day, ok? I did a stupid, stupid thing. But it was only because I thought spoiling your day was better than ruining your life. Does that make any sense? " -- Dennis, Run Fatboy Run
"Yeah, um, I had an adrenaline rush. It's very common. You can Google it." -- Edward Cullen, Twilight (granted, even though it's in the script, Edward would NEVER say this. I still find it amusing purely on Rpattz delivery of the line. He did say it the way Edward would have said in the beginning of the book).
New Story (Posted 8/2)
How I Destroyed My Best Friend's Relationship-- This story is going to be insanely different from what I usually do. There will be no love/hate relationship (the main character's are best friends) and the POV will be from the boy's (instead of 3rd person). Also, the kids will not be in a boarding school or a situation where the parents weren't involved. If anything, the parents will be the driving force of the story. I have some pictures up of the two main characters.
Damon
Ayla (I-la)
Gemma
Summary: I never really got around to telling Ayla how I felt. Now I'm losing my chance; she has a boyfriend now. A really nice, good boy. The problem? He's not me. This is how I destroyed my best friend’s relationship.
Extended Summary: Damon Marriott and Ayla Monroe have been best friends since their first encounter when Ayla moved in next door. Though the two are vastly different (Damon being the school golden boy and Ayla, the odd outsider), no one has ever understood Damon better than Ayla has. Finally getting the courage to tell Ayla how he feels they should take their friendship to the next level, Damon finds out (rather horribly) that Ayla has found someone else, Hunter Trager. Damon, with the help of his and Ayla's friends, plans to push Hunter out of her life and to show Ayla who's the real one meant for her.
