"We are all haunted. Not by unexplained rappings or spectral auras, much less headless horsemen and weeping queens -- real ghosts pace the battlements of memory, endlessly whispering, Remember me."
I'm CB.
This is Just to Say by William Carlos Williams
I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox
and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast
Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold
Variation on a Theme by William Carlos Williams
1
I chopped down the house that you had been saving to live in next summer.
I am sorry, but it was morning, and I had nothing to do
and its wooden beams were so inviting.
2
We laughed at the hollyhocks together
And then I sprayed them with lye.
Forgive me. I simply do not know what I am doing.
3
I gave away the money that you had been saving to live on for the next ten years.
The man who asked for it was shabby
and the firm March wind on the porch was so juicy and cold.
4
Late evening we went dancing and I broke your leg.
Forgive me. I was so clumsy, and
I wanted you here in the wards, where I am the doctor!
Well, dear and lovely readers, it seems to me that Belle Fille has been nominated for the Best Short Story award at the TiRO Awards website.
Which is totally and COMPLETELY unexpected, I might add. Yet awesome. Now I feel inclined to actually finish the story, which may or may not be because the winner of the award has to have at least two chapters, and mine only has one.
Also, I deeply apologize for the negligence I've upheld in concerns to my stories. I know everybody who reads A Little Piece of Heaven loves that crap out of it, and the fact that I haven't updated since, well, Februrary seems utterly cruel, but I do apologize. Iris will be deleted. Do you hear me, people? I say IRIS WILL BE DELETED. It's not near as good as I'd hoped, and someday I might wish to publish it. As in, a novel of sorts. As for CHBH, meh. We'll see what happens with that one. Buttt Belle Fille will be finished. I have a duty to the anonymous reader who nominated me because said reader loved the story so much that he/she thought it was good enough to give an award to.
Thank you, Anonymous. I'm still trying to figure out who you are.
