A Tall Tale - Finished!Thanks so much to everyone who has read my first story on fictionpress, and an extra special thankyou to those who reviewed and stayed with me throughout the entire process. Next time I won't set myself such stupid time limits, especially around Christmas when I was up during the wee hours of Christmas morning proofreading all 20 chapters.
The story was produced for my two younger sisters who'd always pestered me about writing something specifically for them. After finding out that they both loved this old show called the 10th Kingdom, I adapted the premise of the story and added my own spin! Not that original I know :)
The story is about a 20 year old girl called Ebony from Cardiff, Wales (and yes, as someone asked me, there actually is a castle right in the middle of our city!) who (stupidly) winds up dancing around an old Oak tree with a family of faeries. After crash landing ontop of Sleeping Beauty's Royal Coach Ebony winds up in jail and learns that she is in Grimmland, home to the characters of the Brothers Grimm. Any more and it will spoil the story!

This tale is a little homage of mine, (and one of my guilty pleasures!) to the supernatural genre. The story centres on two very different characters, Elizabeth, a 450 year old vampire and Samael, a fallen angel. Elizabeth will seem a bit annoying and childish at the beginning, mostly because she has spent her entire life being cosseted by her vampire family who haven't let her out of their sight since she was born. She is very naive and completely infatuated with Austen and Bronte novels, (one similarity we share!). She's also very curious, and it is her curiousity which will get her into a whole lotta trouble! Samael is emotionally hard and cut off from the world (v. stereotypical, aye!), who journeys with Lizzy - at first out of fear of the repercussions from her five brothers, (who are based on my five bros), which changes to the simple enjoyment of being with the eccentric young..ish lady.
