Author has written 1 story for Fantasy. I want my work to be an experience like the smell of the rain outside your window, the warmth and awkwardness of a first kiss, the fury of a storm on the beach, the sorrow of a funeral on a sunny spring day. The heart of any good story lies in the ability of said work to transform the reader in some way, and for that the reader must be enticed to inhabit the story, walk with the characters, live in their world. It is the duty of the storyteller to weave a tale that engages a variety of audiences and each individual in a unique way. The caption below a memorial painting in my university states "we paint to taste life twice"; so too, do we read. To taste the pure emotional and intellectual wealth of the world around us again and again through the medium of words, to fly on the wings of the imagination, and to nurture the precious seeds of our hopes and dreams; for without them, we are walking around hollow. | |||||
