Wow, a profile! What do I put in here?

Let's see now.

My name, quite obviously, is Benedict Hardy. I'm 16, living in the UK.

I won't insult your intelligence by telling you I like writing, because I see little reason why I'd be here otherwise. : P

In terms of what I like to write I'd say realistic fiction based in fantasy scenarios. That is to say stories that involve realistic characters in realistic environments, but not somewhere in the real world. Basically it's so I don't have to do any research to be historically accurate.

I'm the master of procrastinators, and me sticking to an updating routine is about as likely as plastic sticking to a magnet. The same applies for homework, which will invariably be left until the last day.

I have no favorite authors, but I enjoy reading any epic fiction, as well as some of the more modern classics (Wuthering Heights, for example). A lot of my inspiration comes from the sort of plot twists in the Tad Williams novels, as well as Raymond E. Feist. For the more recent "Adventures of Dave" my inspiration comes from being a complete and utter weirdo.

In terms of the way I write my stories and create my plots, I usually go with a very haphazard "think it and write it" style. I think of a beginning, and end and a setting, then let the plot evolve as I write. My last story ended up almost completely differently to my original plan, but it was completely coherent and much better than a straight plan. That said, I'm planning on rewriting "In the rain, a thief" from chapter 2 onwards, because the plot took some turns I just couldn't deal with, so I have to go back to the start and change everything... I suppose that's the price of writing in the way I do.

Anyway, thanks for reading (if you did indeed read) and please read my stories and review them as meanly and nastily as possible so I actually take some notice!

Happy Reading, Writing and Reviewing.

Benedict Hardy

2. Weight of a mad child reviews
Odd little story I wrote. There's no plot as such, just a short sequence of events. It probably comes off as a bit angsty, but it's meant to be more reflective. Reviews appreicated!

Follow Dave on an epic journey through completely weird stuff the author makes up on the go. Don't expect much to make sense, but it could be amusing if you like this sort of thing.

4. Rain of Leaves
A story I wrote for my coursework last year. I'm aware that it isn't perfect, but I spent more time on it than usual, so hopefully the fact that I wrote it a while ago won't show up too badly!- A boy finds himself lost and alone, is there anyone out there

6. In the Rain, a Thief » reviews
WARNING: This entire story is set to be rewritten on account of being rubbish . Everything from chapter one is going to change, and the plot is going to be pretty radically different too. Don't bother reading it yet, unless you enjoy boring yourself!

7. A Hellish Heaven reviews
A poem that I won the 15 to 16 year old poetry prize for. It isn't perfect, but it's nice. The theme is of repentance etc. Perhaps a little pretentious, but I wrote it to get marks, so don't blame me for that :P
